Try to be conservative? Actually, try to be wild with your guesses, but base it in reality, and you come up with a number somewhere around 250,000 sold.

The vote against Prop-63 in the first place couldn't scare up a significant vote against it, and that would have included non-gun owners anyway.

And when it came time to signing a petition to fight it and several other bad guns bills, those supposed 800,000 gun owners on the "conservative" spectrum couldn't muster more than 150,000 signatures, and that went on for months. So on short notice, at best, awareness of this lift of the mag ban would have only reached bout 50,000 gun owners.

Another way to quantify that 50,000?

In reality, there were only about 22,600 active members here on Calguns prior to the news of the mag-ban overturn. By today, it was about 24,700. So we added only about 2,100 active members, not counting maybe a few thousand of those who are duplicate accounts and shills.

Now account for another 25,000 or so "actively in the know" gun owners or even passive sots that got wind of it, lucky to have learned of this recent ruling who are not Calguns.net members, and you get roughly only 50,000 buyers.

Take your average of 5 mags per buyer, which makes sense, because not everyone showed up to the party on time or bought as many, nor would have if they were outfitted from pre-2000 and hundreds of re-build kits due to that long window of time, and you get about 250,000 magazines sold, which in all realistic consideration toward awareness, the numbers seen on other issues, the apathy of gun owners, the depleted inventories as retailers were caught off guard, and as noted above that many were late to the game - and that 250,000 is a much more likely number of those sold in CA.

    That's an honest number.

I would bet some, if not the majority of those gun owners, were only learning of the temporary buying allowance today, which left them no amount of time to act.

250,000 mags sold seems more like a real number.

    .

That is a long *** post with a lot of irrelevant information to offer a set of numbers that unfortunately are way off.

You estimate that 50,000 out of the 4+ million gun owners acquired (manufactured, imported, bought, received) a standard mag during the Magic Week.

That is 1% of Californa Gun owners.

1% - You think this is realistic?

    That is way, way off.

250,000 is probably just the least number of TRANSACTIONS than it is the actual mag count.

        That’s sad.

My friendly neighborhood LEO was the one who told me about the ruling.

sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

I would say 5 million total is the low end, once you factor in conversions and "found" magazines.

Let's try to be conservative and call it 20%.

                  20% of 4 million people = 800,000 people.

How many mags, on the average, was each person who took action able to get?

Let's try to be conservative and call it 5.

                  5 mags x 800,000 people = 4 million mags.

                  That's my low-end guess.
I'd say 5 for some people but not for the average. 4-5 is at the low end / minium (I'm paying shipping; might as well get a couple extra). Other people are saying they bought several hundred dollars worth.

I am the only person out of my circle on calguns, and trust me, I wasn't the only one buying mags. Others knew before I did.

Rank and file officers generally support citizen armament. Police chiefs are generally political hacks and dance to the string pulls of their puppet master politicians.

Have you noticed how the Left and the MSM have been silent lately regarding all this ?

No outcry, outrage or protests... something is afoot here...

My guess is that 1-2 million were purchased and another 1-2 million were unblocked, un-riveted, assembled, found, and retreived from the boating accident.

Looks like 200,000 from just one online retailer: https://www.ammoland.com/2019/04/cal...#axzz5kLTa0IyE

There are no illegal mags anymore and thousands more will be smuggled in I suspect. Civil disobedience is a strong Californian trait.
