The idea that California-style gun control will inevitably spread across the rest of the country is a fallacy. Things will continue to get worse in California and a handful of other (liberal) states as they compete with each other to have the "strongest" gun control laws, while gun rights are in good shape and getting even better in a majority of states.

The only way this is beaten is if Brown gives it the ol' middle finger. And for the sake of argument, let's say he does. OK, that's nice.

And then, the next time around? This is the Gay Marriage strategy all over again. They kept throwing sh*t at the wall until something stuck. Then they took that opportunity to get into more courts, and eventually to SCOTUS. I applaud them. And as hard as it was for them, the LGBTTPSJZYZWTFROFLBBQ? crowd had it generally much easier - they are a group that garners sympathy from many parts of society.

To the typical Californian progressive (i.e. the mentally ill), gun owners are Satan's Little Helpers. We rape nuns, build 50 caliber multiautomatic baby mulching death machines in our garages, while masturbating to Neo-Nazi music and burning crosses to keep warm.

So, you stop it this session. It's coming back next session. And again, and again, until a governor of even weaker character, bereft of any ethics or morals, occupies Sacramento. That man or woman will sign in a heartbeat.

The only solution is that in my signature. I'm not talking about or advocating violence, not even bringing firearms. We can even give it a catchy name, like the "Community Rights Network". Put 10,000 2A supporters in the middle of Sacramento, blocking traffic, holding up tactful signs, and get some attention. Play the "woe is me" card, not the "how dare you" card.

You can save the bullets and gasoline for later, but probably not much later at this rate.

              So sick of these people.

I doubt this one will be ruled unconstitutional since assault weapon bans haven't been successfully challenged in the courts thus far. So I think it's important to fight it now before it gets to that point.

If they have language there about confiscation it's likely to be vetoed.

So do we start working on Brown now, or after this passes out of the legislature?

no. We start working on our state representatives now and get them, especially the ones who will be on the committee for these, to work against them.

Unless we see some large rallies at the Capitol, I will presume local semi-auto mag fed weapon owners are willing to roll over. Hell, I don't even own one and would gladly get loud and proud...in an orderly lawful manner. This does not apply to those who live outside the Sacto area.

agree. Getting the word out is one of our major weak points. We don't get it done.

We need some kind of messaging / propaganda of our own to let people know what is happening...

Your definition of "center" is way off as seen by the recent *historical* Republican successes nationwide. The center in CA has moved, alright, but only because CA has moved to the left.

Also, I don't see why "Republicans should change this." How about we hold Democrats accountable for what they are doing and their supporters accountable for electing them?

Republicans and gun owners are the victims here. Blaming the victim is supposedly a "right wing thingy."
Don't confuse the far left democrats in power with the people from the center that voted democrat instead of GOP in the last few elections.
the democrats are way left right now because there is no right in power to oppose them.
                            Who's fault is that?
The Republicans scared off the center lost the popular vote in Cali and now don't understand why nobody likes them.
