How many mags per firearm?

Well I would rather learn it "that way" then through a trip to the hospital for doing it your way.

after reading all of the posts in this thread I can't help but wonder how many have actually patrolled with a combat load (7 mags) and gear and equipment for...well, even 1-3 miles.

If it is a REAL SHTF scenario I'm walkin around with one mag in and one spare. MAYBE 2 spare mags. the rest will be in my cache.

if you get into a situation out and about where you have to chew through 90 rounds I'd have to ask you "bro, do you even survival?"

But for pistols, you can own and use high caps no problem.

I just want to be clear. Are you telling the calguns community that you can use your 10+ round mags in ANY pistol in California?

A standard rifle loadout is 7 mags iirc. I would go with atleast that. I have 4 for sidearm, although wouldn't mind more.

correct 7 mags (210) rounds is a basic load out for anyone in the military. some may carry more I did I carried 10 . 9 on my IBA one in the weapon. didn't have a pistol but those who did have a pistol carried 3 on the IBA one in the pistol.

depends on how much weight to you can carry for long periods of time. it does get heavy pretty quick.

While I could be wrong, I took the OP's post to be more a question of "how-many-should-you-own?" rather then one of "how-many-should-you-carry?".

done it, did it, many times, ever heard of DMZ, 1-3 mile in combat load, no ruck, was not uncommon at all. but full ruck marches, like what Kyle was saying, we did it all the time, and we were 'Light Infantry'. then we did Manchu Miles.

It depends on if I'm carrying them or my land cruiser is....it carries a lot more than me.

If I buy a new style of gun,I try to acquire at least 4 magazines for it as a starter and I will acquire more if I see bargains.
Since I like 1911's, it seems I am always buying 1911 mags whenever I see a good price.
I have no clue as to how many 1911 mags I own.

I have done the same. I have bought 2 new pistols this year and I have at least 2 more than what it came with. I have done the same with my .45 which I have many. haven't bought any .45 mags in some time though.

i interpreted the post earlier to have been an 80lb pack +30 =lb other stuff on top of it
I used to do a 80lb pack or more, but will never claim to be able to do it all day every day, and I earned my Manchu Buckle (a few times) and still have it btw

One of the biggest lessons I learned when I got out of the Army is that they do physical training all sorts of wrong. Priorities are all jacked up.

I try to keep a minimum two mags per weapon. I have more mags than I know what to do with.
