Depends on how many rounds you want to have and what caliber/ firearm it is, then the weight you want

How many mags per firearm?
That's why I broke down the weights
Loading your ammo in the mags you can stick them anywhere, between things, wrap socks or pants around them, etcc...

USMC combat load is six 30 round mags. That being said, For SHTF get as many GOOD mags as possible. Handgun mags IMO aren't as important as primary rifle magazines. I have 3 magazines for each of my handguns because that is what I will carry on me in SHTF and I have a rig for 6, 5.56 mags on my vest and I would carry a few in a back pack.
It's 7 mags, looks like you forgot the one already in the gun, unless marines can't handle that

How many mags per firearm?
You should have enough mags to do at least a 2-day Front Sight course without reloading any
What's in your go- bag is a diff story
I do 5, 4 in pack 1 in gun nowadays, although I may reconsider that, since I usually carry my glock 36, I may add mags to gain more rounds, then on the other hand I may just keep the. 36 as carry and include the glock 23 or a 19 in the bag, which would retain the 5 mags. (So many options, how is one to decide)
Otherwise I have at least 10 mags for every gun I have, 25 at least for my glock 23, plus a bunch of glock 22 mags

As many as you can carry; and, this guy can carry quite a bit!

This
The plan to carry so much "may" work if you are not going very far or rely on a vehicle, but (if you rely solely on LPCs) any serious hiker will tell you weight is an issue.
Choice between 10 mags or a liter of water might come into playComment

Yeah, an 80 pound pack for as many miles as the day is long. I've carried my fair share of stuff around. A 9 pound rifle doesn't bother me. Neither does an additional 10 pounds of ammo. 6 liters of water carried, 4 days of food, sundries, necessary tools and small misc items as well.
I am accustomed to the weight. If time over distance was a serious issue (being chased) I'd make it as light as possible. However, zombie hoards aside, I'd rather be able to sustain for days out of my pack alone without relying on additional resources (finding food, purifying water, etc) and be able to defend myself than to get to an undetermined location quicker.
For any serious survivalist/prepper/end of the world survivor, physical fitness is one of the top priorities alongside wit and knowledge. In order of importance is strength, muscular endurance, followed by cardiovascular endurance.
At least that is my experience. YMMV.Comment

And just for a reference, I just weighed myself. Body weight+pack+30lbs (for other things I'd add on before I took off) = 303lbs. In my bag, aside from those magazines, I have a 3l bladder, two 1qt canteens plus 3 1qt bottles (one is for water tight storage but doubles as a bottle), an extensive first aid kit to treat injuries from gunshot wounds, lost limbs, snake bites, eye injuries, you name it, spare set of outer clothes, 2 spare sets of socks, undies, and tees, a fubar tool, three knives for various uses, a tomahawk, MREs, protein powder, vitamin supplements, preworkout supplements (just in case I need the energy), water purification filter, tabs, and drops, 5 heavy duty garbage bags, two pairs of gloves, 100' of 550 cord, roll of duct tape, a full on detachable minimalistic survival kit, hunting/fishing implements (crude and basic but all I need and nothing more) and a few other things. Plus a dump pouch on the packs belt so I can grab items and go.
That plus a PC plus rifle and pistol and primary fighting load plus IFAK plus another 1qt bottle.Comment
