Thanks! A little pricey but I'm sure they're worth it. I'm gonna throw them in a crye jpc 1.0 I already have.

I'm waiting on Hesco L210s. I'm 3 weeks into a 10-12 week wait. I decided on an HRT HRAC carrier.

        I picked up some AR500 level 3 plates for $65 a piece.
Going to use them for field training exercises and range days and hopefully I’ll get issued some esapi’s for when we deploy.
Waiting on my Crye JPC. 12-16 weeks, probably about 10-12 for the plates.

This is a wonderful entry level plate set that is actually NIJ 0101.06 Certified. Covered in Wolf Grey fabric. These plates are shooter cut. Meaning, this is not a SAPI cut. It has steeper angles yet is not as steep as a swimmer cut. Each plate weighs in at 5.4 pounds of ceramic composite goodness! Features: SOLD AS

          Ferro just dropped their plates.

Special threat. 5.4 pounds. Great option.

Looks uncomfortable. Doesn't have mesh on the side facing the body.

BODY ARMOR: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

In HD situation, can I use two different plates, i.e. level III+ front and IIIA back? It will cut down the weight significantly.

                      Sure. You CAN.

Why WOULD you is the better question.

I think it's a really bad idea for a lot of reasons.

Kind of like choosing a revolver over a standard capacity G19, but you do you.

Why would you go to the trouble of putting on 1/2 a kit of armor?

                        Have you ever worn plates?

Don't cut corners with armor, and use the same weight plates if you're mixing. Keep your load balanced.

                            That makes sense.

Ahh mean, neither does a Crye JPC 1.0 or 2.0 in internet pictures, right?

The body sides of the plate bags for the 2.0 are so nice you can wear it shirtless if you really need to . the mesh on other carriers is uncomfortable and feels similar to velcro. I don’t care for it.
