Went out to a new spot on the river last night. It was nice because I didn't have to hike everything in.

First bites came right when the sun went down about 9:15pm and I wrapped it up about 12:15. Caught 5 cats, 4 of which where in the 6-7lb range. Ended up letting the 2 largest ones go and only kept the 3 smaller ones. All the fish looked good and clean. Filleted mine out for a catfish dinner tonight.

    The keepers

I let a couple of these go.

I didn't eat it. You can. A bit bony but supposed to not be bad. But, fresh trout vs pikeminnow? Not a tough choice.

They are actually natural in the northwest. They are labeled as a bad fish because their primary food is trout and salmon fry and small fish. Since so much effort is pit into the trout and salmon fisheries they encourage people to kill them. In parts of Oregon they will pay you to kill them. If I was retired it would be a pretty good racket as you can make some good money. Going forward I have no issue killing the ones I catch.

    Some pretty big color differences.
