    +1 on the comments!
"For the record....the buck is legal and if he is happy that's all that matters. "
As is in beauty the eye of the beholder - so goes the same the size the deer.
A trophy is a matter of perspective, tell a kid that shoots his first deer that isn't a trophy (no matter what size it is)!
I've passed on several small bucks in years pass - only to get skunked.

I can't speak for all the experienced guys here, but I would guess that I pass on an average of 8-10 bucks for every one I think is a good harvest candidate. This has nothing to do with trophy hunting, it's just responsible herd management. If it were legal to keep a 6" trout, would you keep and eat it or release it to get bigger and produce more trout in the process?
Unfortunately you just showed your ignorance and lack of biological knowledge of deer. It's hard for me to believe you pass 8-10 bucks a year but can't even come close to identifying the age of a buck.

If that deer is older than 2, I would give a kidney. A 3-4 year old buck is nearing trophy class for many folks. A 5-6 year old buck for that matter is usually the largest a buck will ever get.

So please keep your comments to yourself if you can't give accurate information.

For the record....the buck is legal and if he is happy that's all that matters. The only thing that ever irritates me is when people shoot small bucks and always say I wish it was bigger. Well unless you pass small ones you'll never shoot big ones. Be happy with your kill and don't justify your decision with some worthless talk.

Right now, somewhere out there, the Internet Hunting Ethics Police (IHEP) are planning and coordinating to take you down. Abiding by DFW regulations will not keep you safe. Resistance is futile. Give in now and admit you're not a sportsman.

And so you internet police know, the guy who posted the pic of that forkie trolled you. I remember he had a thread accounting his kill and in it he showed a full pic of the fork. But nice try.

It's like the magazine/clip nomenclature blunder of the hunting world.

    There are many reasons:

Bad management: To high of a doe to buck ratio
    To many people
