Congrats on your buck. I've been eating back strap the last few nights also. Damn tasty!

Everything checked out for the tag validation, he's forked on his left side. I thought he was a spike while glassing but once I turned up the magnification I was able to see his fork. That sucker sure is tasty, had some front strap for dinner last night and it was better than any beef filet I've had in a long time.

My son's second buck this season taken in southern Humboldt county B1 yesterday afternoon. Not a spectacular rack, a big folk, but the kill was hard won after a high neck shot sent the buck running at 6:00pm. We tracked it into the night and recovered the buck 1.5 hours later at the bottom of a long draw, thankfully we had a half-moon last night because it helped a lot The drag out to the nearest pick up point left my son and I a good mile downhill from our truck, by the time we got back to the ranch house, skinned the buck and had it in the drying room it was just past 12am.

    Buck down...

On the Warner Mountains, north of highway 299. First ever X zone drawing. Nice 4x3 shot with my .257 Roberts at 0730 hrs on the second day of the season. Biggest buck I have ever taken, and the largest we saw up there that was not standing in an alfalfa field.IMG_0426_2.jpg

Found this little guy in a city park pond in Orange Ca. I sent the photo to DFG and asked how it is that a Golden Trout found its way down this far and they responded back saying that it was a Red Banded Trout. Apparently some of the little rascals make it into the stocking ponds and get shipped out to bodies of water for trout plants. It seems this was the case because DFG stocked the pond a couple days prior to me catching it. I also snagged a smelt in the back with a popper while bass fishing there too. That was interesting!

He came out of the water all bloody because the hook was in his gills. Needless to say, he didn't make it.
