You know, I always wondered if people that make knives still buy knives; I guess there's my answer!
I always did like the 119s.Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

Been lagging on posting pics of recent purchases but after receiving my Fallkniven F1 recently, placed orders for Survive! Knives EDC 2.7 in Magnacut, a TSK in CPM3V, and a GSO 5.1 in Magnacut.
Been eyeballing a Reiff F4 but will probably pass. The collection is getting a bit redundant!

I've wanted a 124 for years, even since I was a kid (so like a lot of years) and after hemming and hawing I finally pulled the trigger. I like pocket knives too so, figured I ought to pick up a 301.
I did not realize how much of a chunk the 124 is! This is a beefy knife, and I dig it. So it's heavy, I don't care, I'll carry it on my next camping trip anyway.

The 124 is not discontinued but they aren't making a lot of them so it's hard to find them at secondary dealers. They are available from Buck though they are a pretty penny. Buck provides discounts for various groups of people through their pro program like EMS, Fed gov, LEO, vet, and I think certain clubs.
But yeah, the practicality of the 124... It's certainly bigger than I need for cleaning game (though honestly I find big knives useful for certain bits of butchery). It's about double the weight of the 119, and so not lightweight in the slightest. When I'm camping, if I plan on processing wood I bring an axe, hatchet, or tomahawk; but I wouldn't hesitate to baton wrist sized chunks of wood if I couldn't find any twigs or other kindling. So far as I'm concerned, it is in every way a modern (and useable) non-fighting bowie (or maybe a 'western' leuku).Calguns.net, where everyone responding to your post is a Navy Force Delta Recon 6 Sniperator.Comment

I collect Buck folders. I was doing some of their Buck of the Month knives but they've upped the production numbers to the point I no longer consider them rare. The numbers used to be 50 or 100 - now 750 is common.
