You get a lot of knife for less than $20 (right now it's about $20 but when I bought it it was $17). Carbon steel, full tang, hardwood handles, and a nice size and weight. Actually not too unbalanced either, with all the weight on the handle and guard its balancing point is maybe an inch forward from the guard. On a 15-inch knife that's not very much. The finish isn't high quality but honestly it's a lot better than you might expect. The sheath feels cheap though, if I find a good replacement I'll swap it out.

I haven't beaten it hard yet but did spend some time chopping small stuff in half and splitting things, pretty much no negative effects on the knife itself and pretty easy to do because of the weight of the thing. It didn't come very sharp, good enough for chopping at stuff roughly but needs sharpening. Overall I'm very happy. This is going to be my beater utility knife for around the house, maybe for work and definitely for camping, and for the price I won't feel bad if it gets stolen or lost because I don't think I could break it by hand if I tried.

Looks alot like a Western W49. Bet its about the same size. If so you can easily find a replacement sheath. Good luck.

Hard pass. Spend a little more and get an actual knife. What you have there is either Chinese or Pakistani junk steel. It will disappoint you.

Look at Buck, CRKT, Condor, Ka-Bar/Becker...all of them make great camping knives that won't break the bank but will serve you well with good steel that is actually tempered correctly and craftsmanship that you can trust to not break on you. Heck if you look hard enough you can find an Esee-6 for under a hundred bucks nowdays and that's one of the best outdoor/survival knives ever!

Thanks. I've been looking around for a better sheath, even one that doesn't fit all that well would be fine as long as it doesn't fall apart on its own which I think the current one might do. Ironically I might have to spend more on a replacement sheath than the actual knife. Because of its intended purpose I wouldn't spend the money for a custom sheath.

Believe me, I wouldn't trust my life with this knife unless I had no other option. It's mainly a beater for utility purposes and camping. I assume it's not heat treated or if it was it was done poorly. For what I got for the price, and for infrequent non-serious tasks, it suits my needs. Someday when my camping is longer than overnight car camping or in more remote areas, I'd love something better like an Esee.

I mean, a SYKCO Chophouse thickcut does anything you want before you grab a good axe

A BB13 was just silly to hoard. Maybe should have kept the Desert Dog father.

Still love Regulators but passed on the recent XL Infi... still have more than one SOD.

Love it. I got my boy the Pro w/ S30V. I haven't seen him carrying it though, he seems to have fell in love with the Ontario Rat 1 in D2.

What do you guys think of GiantMouse? I've been eyeing their Ace Iona folder lately. Made in Italy by a couple of Swedes. Nice styling, comes in a few colors, I really like the wolf grey. Main thing though is...M390 steel for under a hundred dollars!

                      Sounds like a complete steal.

                        ^^
I checked it out at DLT listing. Seems like a good value similar to a WE IMHO... different trade-offs... same price range. Only thing I don’t like much is the liner lock. Otherwise pretty sweet and that M390. I had a D2 WE that was a liner lock with ceramic bearings and titanium clip, etc... didn’t like the liner lock.

I have had plenty of liner locks... but the last one I carried a lot was a ZT 0909 with a really overbuilt liner. The knife I can't stop carrying now is a ZT 0456... super overbuilt frame lock. Thin liners just don't feel right to me, but work fine. I gifted that WE knife. I know liners are more tactical than slip joints and lock backs, hahah... but I don't carry those as a primary folding knife and for a one-handed knife I just prefer framelocks unless it is a Centofante3 (that might get some carry again someday). Personal preference.

probably can't go wrong for the $$ unless you put that $100 towards a ZT I don't have an 0095 yet.

I like it. I'd want to pick it up for ~ $70 - 80. I like the polished blade better than that stonewash look too.

I still want to at least handle a $50 TUYA Bruiser, but that'd be a tough choice between a knife with better steel like M390. Didn't mean to knock a liner lock too much... I guess the liner on the WE knife reminded me of old Smith and Wesson knives from BIG5 I have had. Doesn't mean the GiantMouse or any others are the same. But WE is pretty established as good quality.
