In my 40s and finally bought my first Benchmade new. No joke... 417 Fact in satin finish. So slim and trim, it disappears in the pocket.

Fifth generation knife maker Manu Laplace at 1515, Thiers, France. I bought this at the Beretta Gallery in Paris last week, from 1515's "Africa" collection: 19C27 Sandvik stainless with "PVD" ceramic applique, Buffalo horn, Reindeer stag, 3.25" blade/8" overall, the two-piece "Wild Life" spacer is engraved outside and in and also bears the maker's signature "Manu" on the butt spacer section inside.

          The maker's certificate

I made the scabbard and the handle, but I bought the blade, does that count?

Used the case head from a 300 WM as a washer over which I peened the tang.

                    Nice stuff all!

Shout out to Buck Knives! The clips on our 345 Vantage are prone to coming loose. My daughters clip screw popped out and was lost. Contacted Buck, they turned around replacement parts in less than a week and included a tool. Love that old school American service.

Thanks, it’s a looker and well made. They had 4 to choose from, the one I bought was the only one with the PVD ceramic coating on the blade which really set it apart even from the Damascus blades, it was also the only stag one so that made it easy to choose for me.

I love Buck Knives and I love my Vantage! And true story...I actually had to skin a buck with this thing about 4 years ago after forgetting my primary skinning knife!

Found another HIRO BE-9 lockback for sale BNIB shipped from Japan... not sure if it is from manufacturer of not, but though these were long gone.

Gorgeous wood just like my other one and same exact fit and finish which is very good... would prefer stiffer back spring but they are lock backs and have zero blade play so I love them.

I bought a SZCO Bowie from Amazon a few months ago and just got to take it camping, which is really what my intended purpose was. Not as fancy or refined as some of the ones above but a good honest tool that I'm pretty happy with so far. The picture in the link is very representative of what I received.

You get a lot of knife for less than $20 (right now it's about $20 but when I bought it it was $17). Carbon steel, full tang, hardwood handles, and a nice size and weight. Actually not too unbalanced either, with all the weight on the handle and guard its balancing point is maybe an inch forward from the guard. On a 15-inch knife that's not very much. The finish isn't high quality but honestly it's a lot better than you might expect. The sheath feels cheap though, if I find a good replacement I'll swap it out.

I haven't beaten it hard yet but did spend some time chopping small stuff in half and splitting things, pretty much no negative effects on the knife itself and pretty easy to do because of the weight of the thing. It didn't come very sharp, good enough for chopping at stuff roughly but needs sharpening. Overall I'm very happy. This is going to be my beater utility knife for around the house, maybe for work and definitely for camping, and for the price I won't feel bad if it gets stolen or lost because I don't think I could break it by hand if I tried.
