I would be in if it didn't have the wilson/nowlin barrel ramp already cut.

This is doable. I have a W/N configuration as well as a configuration without the barrel seat cut, to support either an unramped barrel or a Para/Clark ramp.

I'm not trying to offend you, I am simply saying that it is out of the price range I was expecting.

As far as I can tell it comes out about the same as a STI...I was not expecting that. Of course it doesn't really matter because we cant buy frames here unless we pay to have them build that all that jazz before we can take possession so if you want to DIY this is your only option I guess.

            Hi all,

I am reposting a snippet I sent fiferronald minutes ago to provide transparency on the current pricing. He will be assisting with a group buy, but please do keep the following in mind.

A little background on the pricing. There is approximately 3.5-4 hours of CNC time per piece, shops typically charge $65-80/hr for labor alone aside from setup fees, developing fixtures, special grinding cutters, and of course material. I am not financially backed by anyone, and have worked about 80 hours a week for a year to get this far by paying out of my own pocket. The open source materials for a 2011 are incomplete, as admitted by the creator himself. Huge out of pocket expense has been incurred to correct the deficiencies and cut several iterations out, as well as spending the time to drive down machining cost that I have paid for entirely. Machining a long dustcover is inherently more difficult, time consuming, and much more expensive than a short dustcover, which is why the CNCGuns model is a 2-piece design welded together.

The first 4 paperweights for ATF inspection cost me $2400 each, this includes fixture development, grinding special cutters, tool ownership, adding tolerances and examining dimensions, time spent for CAD updates, time spent comparing the Genuine McCoy plus the year renting a properly zoned location to obtain the necessary business permits and I am now out over $20k of my own money.

I did this because many in the shooting community said they wanted one, also I wanted one, and I was pointed to this community which has interest in these.

Other places do offer carbon steel for a similar price, but you are paying them the manufacturing shop rate which I do not collect. I contract out manufacturers that can get the job done in a reasonable time frame for a reasonable price that I believe will not have customers wondering where their money has went, and then they get to collect the shop rate leaving me with a small fraction of what is left over.

Why did I do this? That way when people place their order, I know that without a doubt I can deliver within a reasonable time frame a quality 2011 carbon-copy. There is no machine shop upkeep on my end, no down time at all.

I will not be back-ordered for nine months or indefinitely since I have several shops at my disposal, many of which are involved with the Aerospace Industries I am employed in. I schedule a block of time to come in, and pay them to do the work when that time comes.

I invite anybody to go to a CNC machine shop, hand them the deficient CNCGuns model which completely lacks all tolerances and dimension notations (i.e. no blueprints/schematic, and also means you will pay them to make these), pay for more than what four full blown custom 2011s cost to receive 4 paperweights for ATF submission, and wait for an indefinite period of time while renting a business unit to receive the determination letter and say the current pricing is unfair.

As someone who has worked in the machining business for a long time, and looked at doing some 2011 frames on my own with the information available, I can say this is a good explanation and your pricing is not out of line.

I'm still interested, would prefer to not have the anodizing done already as it will just need to be done again after cutting the rails and pin holes.

Thank you for your time and expenditure in bringing these to market.

The coupon code did not remove the anodizing charge in my cart.
It only subtracted $30 from the total.
Are we supposed to order without the finish and you will somehow know to send anodized ones?

Does the card get charged immediatly, or at the time of shipping in 8-12 weeks?

All important details to someone like myself who is ready to place an order.

Yes on group buy if it happens within a reasonable amount of time (with no extensions, addons, etc...). Otherwise, I would spend the extra money to buy direct.

                          Order Help

Here are some answers to clear things up. If you order on the website we will charge the credit card provided within 5 days, so it will be an immediate charge.

When you order on the website select that you do NOT want the anodized finish. When you put in the discount code calguns we will see it in the order summary and get it anodized before it ships.

The website has been updated with an extra discount code calgunsna for those of you who want non anodized parts. So, for either discount code order with no finish chosen.
