    Polish a feed ramp

I did a quick search but nothing popped up.

What is the safest way to polish a feed ramp? Is there a link to a web page or video?

    Thanks in advace

Depends on what, a rifle or a pistol?

I'm assuming a pistol, so I'd say a rag, your finger, and some Flitz. That's the safest way. If ya gotta take a Dremel to it, I'd say take it to a pro. It's too easy to mess up the angle and effect the functioning.

      I use 600,,800,,and then 1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper...

Correct, a pistol ramp. I read the elite versions of the Kahr's have a polished ramp. I figured I may be able to do it. I would not use a Dremel but just hand work. Thank you for the information.

I use Flitz and some Q-tips. I polished the feed ramp on my Sig here in this thread

I wouldn't recommend using any power tools or dremels either. They may ruin the feed ramp by taking away too much material. 10-20 minutes with some Q-tips should be sufficient

Unless removing the barrel..tape it off..Allways good to smooth out the action to any Semi Auto.

400, 600, 1200 wrapped on a dowel easy does it.. (you can get nice sand paper at automotive refinish suppliers)
Dremel bullet shaped felt tip with some Flitz, again easy does it..
when you can see yourself you're done.
Feeds better and stays a lot cleaner once polished.
                HTH..

Did mine tonight. I used some 3m rubbing compound (automotive) first with a microfiber towel. Did that by hand for about 20 min.
After I polished off the residue with a clean portion of the microfiber towel. Looked great.
I then moved to Mothers mag polish, works on all metals. I repeated the same as above. End result looks like it should help a lot! My 1911 tends to jam once the carbon build up on the feed ramp, we'll see.

Its so smooth and shiny now, oil wont even stick to it like before, it just beads off like a waxed car I dont think I would take any sand paper to mine, unless it was a cheap 1911... and even then would be pushing it.

I used a dremel with a polishing wheel, no sandpaper just flitz, and it came out like a mirror.

Did this too, on my 1911 and sig mosquito. I went really slow.
