    AK builder center support question

Anyone ever had an AK builder center support that was too wide ?

I've never had a problem but my latest build the center support seemed much too wide.

On my Yugo, my sleeve was actually too small, I had to swap it out for a longer one and shave the longer one down. After shaving it down it worked like a charm though.

I had a center support that flared out one of my receivers. It could have been bad judgment with using shims when I first starting doing builds.

I was never aware of this. I will check all in my future builds.

I've measured about 20 of them and never were more than .002" apart. I could measure the next ~25 I have on hand if it would help calm fears.

I have had guys trim their CS to fit easier into the receiver before. But once it all got squished together the receiver had a "wasp waist".

I use large snap ring pliers to spread receivers and just plop the CS into place.

              center support

You might have a gap between your lower rails and receiver shell, or metal shaving from drilling, which makes the receiver narrower inside. I've built 40+ receivers from old and new AKBuilders flats and never had an issue.

Perhaps using a Tapco flat and AK Builder center support?
