    romy g build help!?!?

Hey all I just got a ak lower froma friend, and I was told it was a romy g build reciever.

All I have is a slighty rusted u shaped piece of metal with a couple holes. What do I need to finish this and where can I go for information, and how much (ballpark) should it run me.

I've done several ARs but this will be my first ak. Thanks again you all are great.

Oooh...the best advice I would suggest is that if this is going to be your only build to attend one of the build parties. AK's are not built like AR's. You're going to need special tools for just the riveting, 12 or 20 ton press, etc. By the time you get all the tools together, you've spent more money on the tools over the actual rifle build itself. IMHO.

What do I need before attending a build party, and where do I get it?

Well first we need to figure out exactly what kind of receiver or flat you have. Did it go through a FFL?

Is it a cold steel blank? a flat that was bent then given to you? From there we can let you know what is the best route to go.

                  Danger Will Robinson!
FYI: as soon as a flat is bent it is a firearm (legally). To transfer it would need to go through an FFL unless it's immediate family (i.e. father to son, grandfather to grandson)
Flats are cheap. It's the kits that are getting crazy in price.
So......The flat in question is unbent or you bent it yourself correct?

                    STOP!!!!!!

Just cut that thing into little pieces and throw it in the bay! Trust me. It will be the best finacial move that you ever made. If you need an addiction, try meth, crack or heroin. They are cheaper!

Well, if you still have the bug, start in the gunsmithing forum and read away. There are 4-6 threads which I started that have some very good info hidden in them. There is a thread by 69mach1 which is outstanding. There are also some good threads for build parties in the bay area, San Diego, Freno, Napa, etc.

Dude, I'll trade you two "rocks" for that rusty piece of metal. Come on, I really need it. PLEASE...............I'm going into withdrawls since, I didn't get a chance to build anything at my last party.

                      My thinking as well.
Hmmmmm $20 flat or don't pass go, and proceed directly to jail.
If the flat in question is in fact bent, and you didn't bend it yourself or have it transferred through a FFL to you the above is the correct course of action.

Haha you guys are funny! I was thinking the same thing..... that's why I asked my question and threw out the "cold steel blank" just incase.. I got a cold steel 80% with my first kit...

But yes if it wasn't bent by you..... well don't admit it and just be quiet while you ummm get rid of the it

                        EDIT::
                        Picture LOL

U-shaped? If it's U-shaped, cut it up and throw it away, or give it back to the friend that you "borrowed" from, because it's incorrectly bent, and nothing will fit it. This is what an AK receiver for a Romie G should look like (check out NDS-3): http://www.nodakspud.com/page2.htm

Life can make you do many things, even kiss a man with a runny nose.
