    Question about assemblying upper

    If I bought this barrel:

    and this upper:

and added a low profile gas block with Noveske Flash Suppressor,

How difficult (what are the steps involved) to assemble it? Is there headspacing or any sort of precision related assembly required?

Never assembled an upper, but it looks like I would just screw the barrel into the upper and torque to proper spec, install gas block and gas tube, and install flash suppressor. Anything else I'm missing?

You don't state if this is a pistol or rifle build. From the link it would be for a pistol. I don't think you would put on a 8.5 in. flash to bring it up to 16in. But if you are building a pistol yep it's about that easy with a good vice, and a little time.

I actually asked something similar at a local shop because I have all my upper parts coming in from different vendors

        m4 barrel
        upper receiver
        gas tube
        low profile gas block
DD Lite 12.0 free float rail
        smith vortex
        RRA BCG + CH

I know I can put it all together myself, but what about headspacing? does anyone have any clear information on how to do this? the brownell video on headspacing seems way too simple compared to what I've been told at the shop...

I too was thinking of building an upper instead of buying a complete upper. I have no experiance with this process so I am intrested to see what you guys say about this thread
