Sweet!
P.S. I have to take a 4 day FS class also but am not sure if a California sissy like me can tolerate the hellish Nevada heat. I think their classes resume in the Fall when the weather is not so extreme.Comment

Are they still trying to make you shoot in "weaver style"? Is there a limit of gun you can use?Last edited by hkdad; 05-22-2012, 11:56 AM.˙ǝuılƃıs ʎɯ uı ʇnd oʇ ɹǝʌǝlɔ ƃuıɥʇʎuɐ ɟo ʞuıɥʇ ʇ,uɐɔ I

I am not aware of the stance. I have heard from others that you can just let them know you do your own thing and they back off.
They do not want any pocket pistols, and pistols must have at least a 4lb trigger pull, which made me have to change out springs on my Apex equipped M&P and my STI 1911. I am just at 4lbs and will bring my own trigger gauge to prove it.

By leave you alone, I assume you mean they do not try to change you to Weaver vice ISO. Last time I was there, there was an ISO shooter that they helped quite a bit with his ISO shooting.sigpicThe right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. yes. But I did not get much, if any at all, ISO "help" for the 2 days that I attended skills builder.Comment

The only ISO "help" you'll get at FS is from other students. The Instructional staff are pretty dedicated Weaver shooters. However it is hard to argue with success when someone is shooting zero down on the skills test...Iso.
"If it's not broken, don't try and fix it" comes to mind. But if your shooting isn't up to par using an Iso stance, give the Weaver a shot (pun intended). An all around shooter should be proficient in both. There is no one technque that solves all tactical problems.
The FS skills test is based and passable using Weaver and a Skill Builder is a condensed prep for the 4 day basic skills test, so that probably explains why some don't get help with their Iso shooting skills. Once you get in the Advanced courses they don't really care how you shoot if you're successful.Larry Renner

While I agree that the instructors are dedicated Weaver shooters due to the constraints of the curriculum, there are some that are willing to coach ISO shooters in the ISO stance. I also agree that being able to shoot both stances is a valuable skill. Last time I went to FS, I shot the entire class with my gun strapped to my weak side. After 4 days of that, my "weak" side is not all that weak...
