Next time I go to a regular class rather than a private, I want to do this again.

I wonder if I can ask for this to be part of an 8-person private.

I guess the person drove a similar vehicle.
We had three ND's in my last class! Two of them were from the same guy!

For those that have stayed at the Saddle West, what were your impressions? I've stayed at the Best Western and Wine Ridge RV Resort and stayed in one of their basic cottages.

Whats the Saddle West like? As long as it's cheap and clean I'm fine with that. Looking to save a few bucks next time since I'll be coming out my myself for a 2-day skill builder. But if it's nasty and smells like smoke I'll just shell out the extra cash to stay somewhere a bit nicer.

After his second ND he surrendered his firearm without the RM even asking for it, and went and hung out in his car for a bit for some alone time.

I stayed at the Saddle West once. I got a good rate off Expedia or something. The rooms were clean, but dated. Get a room on the top floor if you can. I had a room above me and it sounded like a stampede of elephants upstairs.

Stayed there once a few years ago, got the 'deluxe' room for a few bucks more a night and it was fine.
                  Dated
                  Basic
                  Clean

Breakfast is free, that was a plus.

Vinnie, what was he doing when he ND'd?

I can't remember specifically, but I believe once was during a drill where we were supposed to have a mag loaded but nothing in the chamber, and the other time I think we were told to unload completely for dry fire practice and he most likely unloaded the mag but didn't unload the round in the chamber (and his coach also was not paying attention).

My Saddle West room didn't have any smoke smell inside. When I arrived, there were two ppl smoking outside of their room downstairs. Someone said something to them as it didn't continue. Affirm on the top floor room as you will hear everything above you. I got a "deluxe" room with a mini fridge and it was fine. The main smoke smell is in the casino yet the restaurant isn't bad at all and it is right off the casino. I went the cheaper route and I would stay there again tomorrow if I could.

For Saddle West - 'Deluxe' room is required if you want a mini fridge and/or coffee maker. Definitely request a 2nd floor room. The deluxe rooms tend to be more clean than regular, but no matter what the carpets are pretty nasty.

My recommendation is that while staying there do not let anything you own touch the floor, including your bare/socked feet. Keep shoes on or wear some sort of 'shower shoes' (for on the carpet) I know at least two people who have acquired foot fungus recently after staying there.

I have stayed there many dozens of times, but I only stay there when I am alone.

that would be fun. There is only one way to get the man on man challenge coin. Not sure they would give it for less than a large class shoot off. Plus half the fun on winning the coin is having the instructors call you "the man" or "top dog" for the remainder of the class. When you get the cert at the end, they do everyone else first. If you DG, you are the last person to step up. And you get announced as something like the final DG goes to this student that has shown exceptional skills, etc...known to us as "the man". When I got my first one, one of the other instructors was handing out certs. The RM then took mine to announce. It felt pretty cool.

Thanks. I just booked three nights for $44/night at Saddle West. Heading back out for the 2-day skill builder on 12/29. Also scored a roundtrip flight for $97 from Southwest. Both flights are direct and then rented a cheap car. Really couldn't pass it up for those prices. I've driven out both times I've been to FS, but 8.5 hours of driving each way got old fast. This time I'm just going to fly and go minimalist. After already being out there twice now I know what I have to bring (and know what I can leave home).

I am disappointed! QU barbecue is closed for good!

                                Covid casualty?

I was hoping to have some left over BBQ for lunch tomorrow.
