I am not sure either. It sounds like it has been handled both ways. When I went to Guardian, it did not change my "membership" benefits but provided additional incentives. My membership number did not change as is customary with a membership upgrade--instead they simply appended a "G" prefix to my current membership.

I know in the one promotional offer, Naish refers to it as a"Guardian of Front Sight supplement". To me that indicates it is something different than the core membership. Further, he describes this in his promotion:

"Your membership number will receive the letter G as the prefix, maintaining your current membership number and other prefixes or suffixes (such as A, E, D etc.) and you retain all your current membership benefits, so if you are an Executive or Ambassador or Diamond or Platinum member you maintain all your previous benefits and privileges. Just trying to keep up with the changing membership schemes.

Yes much cheaper. It's not a scheme. It's an Ambassador that's able to be upgraded on existing memberships. Low price and then when you login you pay the 99 transfer fee. No free Piazza option for that. Total is still much cheaper than 495. It's how I upgraded myself and my wife. Kids were already Ambassador. I gambled as we want to flee California and took a low cost chance of being able to utilize a facility in say Texas in the future.

I only know if this option currently for Ambassador upgrades so it's no use to you. Nothing is really higher than Ambassador though. Technically Guardian is just an add on. Nonetheless you get all classes and all facilities plus hotel/RV add on. There are also special Executive Plus type memberships etc. Doesn't get you more than Ambassador except for add ons. I'm Ambassador but I have hotel add on.

Time to buy in is if you can afford it and it makes sense to you. If you had trade ins then you could have gotten Executive or just simple hotel add on for free.

Guardian has no discount but you get a ton of stuff. If you can sell a few memberships to friends and family (market is saturated in gun forum circles) then you get your money back plus have credits for overpriced clothing in the pro shop. Then when the next promotion comes along you have trade ins up the wazoo.

Not gossip but is there still an option of FS picking up the tacked on $495 transfer tax? Diamonds still going for $1.25?

I believe the FS pay option is only available on TBD memberships being assigned to new member.

I have yet to see one come through the 4DHG course.

I think so. My dentist got really excited to tell me he just joined FS and got a "bunch of stuff". I wanted to ask him what membership package did he get, but all I could ask was "Aa, aaa aa aaaaaaaa?"

j/k, he actually sent me an e-mail to tell me about it. I offered to take a 2D or 4DHG class with him.

Not so stellar reviews here on CGN but they are supposedly on the CA roster. Does FS still offer the FMK AR lowers too?

Yeah those lowers are in the pro shop. The pistols are on the roster but I'm not so sure of the quality. Seems decent enough but who knows if they'll stand up to torture without malfunctions.

Other than this new gun offer, I wonder what is up his sleeves? Its been a bit since the last, LAST...Greatest Offer!

Off to Florida, will rent some time on their 300 degree simulator for some scenarios training at Gander Mountain, and see what classes I can fit in with Paul Pawella. He runs a good class and his prices are reasonable.

Living the life! Have a great time and give us an AAR on the training there when you get a chance.

Wow, wish I was retired like you. I still have a mortgage to pay off, but the kid is out of college and just got her first job.

Those wide angle simulators are getting more and more popular. Hopefully someday FS will offer them. (Best guesses as to the membership level/supplement? LOL)

New topic: How many of you have been using the same gun since you started training? I'm on my second training handgun and my second rifle. My first HG, a bone stock CZ75 SP-01, now a bedside gun, was replaced because I bought a new SP-01 Shadow from CZ Custom. Now the second one is showing plenty of holster wear, wear on the magazine release, slide lock, etc. I have a new one on order from CZC, just because SSE is going away after this year.

My first rifle, an AKM (7.62x39) was replaced by an AK74S, again because I bought a newer rifle and wanting to shoot cheaper ammo for non-FS classes. Thank God for Ammunition Warehouse in Pahrump, they sell the cheapest non magnetic Hornady 5.45x39.

Talking about ammunition, you guys have been following the new bill, Kevin DeLeon's SB-53, passed by the CA Legislature last week? Yes, no more online purchases of ammo after July, 2016 if Gov. Brown signs it. That is going to hit us hard, so all online ammo purchases have to be sent to your hotel in Pahrump. Check out the 2A Forum if you haven't.

I received 2 FMK's via one of the Front Sight deals. Made the mistake of ordering the holster/mag holder via blade-tech prior to receiving the guns, because they are terrible. I only tested 1 of the guns, shot 30 rds and had like 10 type 2 malfunctions. I would never train with these guns... let alone rely on them at home. I threw them into 'get home' bags just in case, but have considered just selling them.

I was sent the CA (roster approved) versions that do not have the updated trigger system (mags will not drop when released and gun will not fire w/o a mag inserted... so not sure if the FAT trigger upgrade improves performance, but they are not allowed to sell those with the gun in CA.

I even contacted FMK about how poor the gun was and even asked about buying the improved trigger system to modify the gun (to see if that would improve the gun), but they said they would only sell those to an armorer/FFL that would install it... but then had 1 contact FMK and they would only offer the triggers if they bought in bulk, which is idiotic, since most FFLs wouldn't want to pay for overpriced trigger systems and won't bother stocking these guns in CA.

One good thing about using the same stuff is you learn what the symptom's are when you wear things out and get good on preventive maintenance. also, muscle memory

As for ammo and stuff. Years ago I got a non-resident Nevada I.D. and UPS box. It used to be really good because with my Nevada CCW I could buy weapons over the counter (the ps-90 as an example), but-like 80% milling, that ship has sailed, but the ID and UPS box is very helpful, especially with C&R weapons.

Besides ammo restrictions, I heard some congressman is trying to pass some sort of body armor restriction for civilians. With the guns and ammo restrictions, how are we going to fight off ISIS? (or other evil-doers)
