This is just more b.s. and shows how unhinged and unstable the guy is. Best to just walk away and move on.sigpicComment

I feel really badly for the members who invested a lot of money and have yet to see returns. Shame on Iggy for pulling that **** on y'all
I, on the other hand, have invested less than a few hundred dollars (Diamond membership from another calgunner, background/transfer fees, and a one-time fundraising contribution (which got me a lifetime supply of iggy bucks to pay for future background check fees)). Between that and the dozen-ish or so classes I've taken there, I'm definitely ahead on my investment. The pre-restructuring business model suited me just fine, as financially insolvent as it was/may have been.
Were FS to survive this latest bipolar disorder episode, all I would expect is that the training delivered was up to modern training standards at market value. Run the place like the business it is supposed to be.
On my wishlist though would be a developed or KOA-style campground, showers (coin operated to offset cost and water consumption), more food trucks, and more classroom/picnic areas like one for each range section.Comment

So.....if you paid extortion money to Dr. P you get a Gold Star?
These are now his LOYAL F.S. members?
Bahahahahaha.......you can't make this sh*t up!

When will my brothers and sisters learn that everything he says is a lie to manipulate you, and the goal posts will be moved whenever it suits him. Some of you exhibit traits like you're in an abusive relationship, thinking their partner is going to change. This behavior has been going on for over 20 years.
It just sucks he's screwing us over so hard. Think I'd be OK with paying $100 a year for upkeep plus daily fees when visiting but $600 a year just for it to sit there when I can't make it is a rip off. If I lived closer, I'd go there every month if I could.Молон Лабе

I'm starting to think Piazza is intentionally forcing a hard reset. A good Ponzi schemer would know it's better to milk than kill the cow. He could have easily instead changed the terms to something more palatable (even if it was a breach of terms), like:
- A low monthly fee. $50/month is just unreasonable to hold open a rarely used membership. $5/month or even $50/year would be "reasonable" to most people. This keeps a stream of revenue.
- A low or no background check fee. There's no way it's costing FS $50 to do a background check, if it's even done at all. Paying a small fee for the year you train is reasonable, or better yet, just keep things simply and get rid of it. Make up cost through the reasonable monthly membership fee.
- A lower $/day fee. This helps balance incurred costs from the leeches (like me) who didn't pay for upgrades and train there often. That would also be reasonable to most people.
- A lower transfer fee. Given the saturation of memberships, FS could still get a modest kick back this way. Maybe it's $20 or $50. $1k is just plain stupid.
- Get rid of the requirement to purchase FS ammo. This is just a bait and switch plain and simple. I hear reports from FS right now that they honoring the prices Iggy said in email, but it's limited to 5 boxes. I was at FS before this restructuring and ammo prices were WAY jacked up. So clearly this has nothing to do with supply and demand and it's simply a way for FS to milk even more money when they start to slowly raise up prices again.
He could have done the things above and made some serious revenue. It may not have stopped the inevitable lawsuits, but it would have keep a ton of members still on board and reduce the sting. What he's chosen to do here seems like intentional burning down of the house.
Simply require $100 per year from every membership. It would be an additional $27,000,000 per year based on his numbers of 270,000 members.
No additional fees necessary.
Oh, yeah...Dr. piazza gives up voting and controlling rights and simply receives a "retirement" check of $50,000 per year for the creation of an otherwise great thing.--Magazines for Sig Sauer P6

While I agree Iggy should go, there's just no way he's going to relieve himself. All his talk of handing over FS to members is BS meant to give the false feeling of ownership to members (deflection from the appearance of a scam). The best one can hope for is he hires a competent COO/CFO and gives them reasonable authority to run FS like a real business.
Dr. P did create FrontSight and he did do a good thing in that he gave many, many people their first opportunity to really learn shooting. Nevermind all the silliness about the methods being older or there being better places. The simple fact of FS's existence that is a good thing.
He does need to step away or be forced out. Set up a Foundation to collect the $100 per year of all memberships so the money is caged and protected. Spend only on making sure that the FS business is good to go and not worry about the resort dreams. Just improve, little by little, the FS range / school concept. Collect the money for 3 years and the coffers should be good to ensure FS is around for decades and decades more.
And...to protect the money, it requires 3/4 vote of the entire FrontSight Knight council (or whatever is created from MEMBERS) for any expenditure to the facility and no money may be spent on something that does not directly benefit the school.
There's a dozen different ways to do this, but in all of them, Dr. P must not continue control of the school. The foundation can pay him a retirement salary because he created the school, but he has no voting right, no control, and no legal recourse. Take the retirement and move on.--Magazines for Sig Sauer P6

I think his bigger problem is how to get out of the "free training forever" promise. He already just reset the funny money and "assets" and I don't think he'd be in that weak of a position if litigated. Assuming he cares about legal jeopardy, he should be focusing on negating the free training for life promise. Be wary if a future offer comes "upgrading" your membership to one that doesn't have free training anymore, and instead gives you zillions in funny money to "pay for classes essentially for life". The only other way I can think of to get out of that is to just close FS down and be born again clean slate and promise-free.Comment
