the weather effect here is the relative humidity. When the humidity gets low, anything that takes an ES will hold onto it longer. So even after a short stroll across the carpet you keep that charge longer, and arc the door knob or whatever when you touch it.

Aw, c'mon. It really does help, and I was hoping that you would try it and report back how much it improved the process

Actually, Big Bronco's drill powered set up looks like a better idea. So keep your clothes on and relax

Good stuff here every night. Great thread.

By the way, out of 4 different moulds I have to use in my 9mm's this little 105gr is my fav.
      And uses less lead.
      Win win
That's because even at .358" you have a .001" gap in the throat and the bullets are too hard to obturate.

Here's a question for you guys:

Can I apply two coats of powder coat? I am getting similar results to meaty with .20 gram white bbs. I was curious if I could try two coats to get 100% coverage.

I was thinking maybe in the oven for five or ten minutes, let them cool. One more spin in the cool whip container and bake them again. I seem to remember there might be a problem with this method.

        Thoughts?

          You can multi-coat just fine

Thanks for rapid response meaty! I am picking up a cheap toaster oven tonight and plan on shooting some PC'ed bullets this weekend! I didn't want to fiddle **** around town looking for black airsoft bb's.

I tumbled straight powder and lead for about a day and a half. Ask me next month and I will tell you for 3 days... But anyways, when it stopped, it was BLACKNESS inside. My lead came out GRITTY black. When I baked them (cause you know, I HAD to), they came out grayish-black with a sandpaper texture and NO slickness. I ended up retumbling and recoating about 5 more coats and they finally were slick.

I THINK there is a kicker. I have seen PC sellers say to HALF-CURE the first coat, SO I guess put it in at the 390 or whatever temp for about half the time, then take them out and retumble then in the second coat for the best adhesion. THIS is only a GUESS.I kinda did it once and I aint gonna rave about it, but I never really saw that it was awesome to half-cure...

AND as for containers, I went to WINCO on my way home and got some that looked like the ones above. I paid $7.12 for a 3 container pack. Oh WAIT a second. It just dawned on me, maybe by 6 piece they meant two containers with gaskets and lids... no, can't be. Anyways, When I got home and opened them up, there was only two containers so I gotta go back to winco and return it for another set. But here are pics, these are in the housewares aisle AND they ALSO have like some 14 piece larger set for $11.00 that looks very nice too, but closer to tupperware AND BOTH of these sets of containers are number 5 on the triangle scale...

sorry yes, my bad. You should only partial cure between coats.

I've had some success in partial cure recoating and full cure recoating. The problem with full cure recoating is the bonding wasn't as good. I didn't get the rough finish at all.

                      Stilly,
Just my .02, if it where me, I would go with a shorter container. If your looking for capacity, maybe go wider. That way your pills can't dive deep. Much easer to dig out and a little swirl will expose them.

Standing on the sidewalk looking through the hole in the construction fence, would it help to preheat boolets somewhat with blow dryer maybe for first coat, kinda warm not hot?

some people do this with spraying. They preheat the bullets, then spray. That way the PC kinda sticks and melts to the boolit at first. Might try them both warm and hot. might melt the airsoft bbs if tumbling. Worth a shot.

I haven't been in treated in reloading for a while. Been reloading some but haven't casted anything for a while, especially when I had some friends come over to help me clean my yard they tossed my 300lbs hunk of lead away!!!!!

Anyway, I just casted with these 308 220gr bullets and gave the shake n bake a try. Came out okay for first time try.

I used bi-white bb from walmart. Seem to be OK for what it is. I was lazy and let them lay down when baked. Just don't let them touch or they'll get stuck. Haha

Thank Op for sparking the fire again for me.

                            Edit updated:

Did a second coat... looking better I guess.. no shinny coat though.

                                Those look like vegan turds.

                                Give them a second coat.

I ALWAYS full cure for the most part between coats, yeah it might not adhere as good, but so what, that is what the next coat is for in my book. I did 5 coats on BAD stuff and I got decent coated pills in the end.

Half cure might be better, but I do not REALLY know what it means to half cure so I assume HALF the time. and we ALLLLL know what happens when you assume...

So just recoat until perfect, then resize and if it looks good, then you are good to go. That is my attitude anyways.
