I ordered it as soon as someone posted about it in this thread & got it a week later - still haven't used it, but will pretty soon as I have a bunch of 223 brass to process. I have played with it to see how it works, put it in the press and all that - the only thing that I don't like about it is how much of a PITA the clip for the shell holder is to turn.

was pretty inexpensive as I only got the swage kit & not the swage/primer kit.

as for the threads - the first line of threads does look/feel pretty bad but then again, who cares, the rest of them feel fine & it locks up tight.

I thought I was the only one who owned one, and didn't like it...

More annoying than that is the fact that sometimes it doesn't swage enough for me. I've had it adjusted so that the case would barely fit into the swage, and the case still wouldn't seat a primer! Annoying!!!

where's the best place to get that ch4d swage die? Currently none of my .308 brass is crimped but I'm always getting more brass. May start reloading .223 for my brother's AR too so it'll definitely come in handy.

Ordered it and tried it last weekend. Didn't care too much for it. While it seemed pretty fast, I couldn't keep the shells from tipping in the shell holder... end result is the shell holder takes a little bite out of the rim as it tips in the shell holder (can't keep it flat).

Hard to explain, but next time you load, press a shell away from the open end of the shell holder... and you can see it tip slightly and raise up. Now imagine some force on the base and you can see where the shell holder will take a small bite out of the rim.

Great idea and fast though. But need to come up with something better than a normal shell holder to secure the shell.

(edit - I been looking for a different brand shell holder. Using RCBS now, but wonder if a Hornady or Lee would hold the shell tighter and keep it from tipping. Just haven't found one local yet.)

You tried the CH4D? I was wondering about the movement in the shell holder and this seems to make sense. Was it damaging the rim?

Yup. Just take a junk shell and bend it out of a shell holder (away from the open end), and you will see the same thing. Should have taken some pics, but didn't think about it.

But I haven't given up yet. Like I said, maybe a different brand shell holder will hold the shell tighter and keep it from rocking. I really like the idea of setting it up on a progressive while de-capping/re-sizing 5.56. Yeah it looks quick in the video, but man that would be sweet if you were de-capping/re-sizing at the same time

so I did something unheard of - I read the directions & it says, "support the case neck with free hand to prevent case from tipping in shell holder" & "attempting to swage the primer pocket more that is necessary will result in damage to the rim"

Yup, read that same thing too, but no matter how hard I tried to hold it, it still tipped. Also, when it was soft enough not to tip, I couldn't get a primer to start... only when it was strong enough to 'tip' did the primers start seating. Again though, I want to try a different shell holder...

                              I hold the shell.

I had better results with redding and rcbs shell holders over lee

Hope I don't have to spend an extra $20 for shell holders because I'm planning on reusing the ones that came with my Lee dies set
