    Thick steel trumps wood though.
One of my shop workbenches is all made of 1.25"x1/4" thick angle iron.
It has a 5'x3' 2" thick maple top though.

I built bench #5 for about $100 and it works great. I am not very handy but it was pretty easy to build.

I had to go to a plywood supplier.
          They even had 4x12 sheets.

Well, since 4x8 of mdF is 96 lb, I can only imagine that yes a 4x10 of mdX is indeed heavy!

The left speaker was sitting above the drill in the picture and has since been moved over to the left side of the room...

That's very nice! How much was materials and how difficult was it to build? I'm no handyman - I do not have good woodworking tools. A hand saw with a Mitre box is about the best I have. Also, is that a Lee Turret press? Pretty sure that's the one I'll eventually be getting.

Materials were $103 at Home depot. The top was $45 for the 8x4 piece alone but its sanded smooth and very thick. The brackets were also expensive, roughly $5 a piece but it makes it very easy to build. I also have about the same saw's you do

I was going to do that too, but just didn't like the stands I was able to locate.

Decided to build my own as I wanted the mobility, but didn't want to clutter my bench up with more than what's already on it.

A labor of love (and some blood, sweat and tears).

come on there is no way that thing doesn't move all over the place when pulling the lever. My bench was all sorts of wobbly till I bolted it to the concrete and also the wall.

Is that stand really as sturdy as a solid bench?

I bet it's just as stable as it looks.
A couple concrete anchors screwed into the floor would fix it though.
