I've found that instead of just whacking at a piece of wood like you were driving a nail with a hammer, loosening your grip and flicking your wrist just before the head strikes the wood will pull bullets with less strokes and doesn't pound the crap out of everything.

Is that why I broke 2 of them?
Now I use a RCBS bullet puller unit in the Rockchucker. Love it.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

There is a danger to using a kinetic bullet puller...

This is going to make me sound really stupid, but I tell you this so you can avoid a similar accident.

KEEP YOUR OTHER HAND OUT OF THE WAY!

While I was whacking away, trying to pull a rather stubborn bullet, my (empty) primer tray was vibrating along the desk and was getting danger close to my hammering spot. I reached out with my free hand to push the primer flipper out of the way, but the part of my brain that was telling the other hand to hammer did not transmit the STOP signal. I ended up catching the tip of my thumb and splitting it open like a grape.

As a former Marine, I don't usually find myself screaming like a little girl, but that bullet puller made me do just that. My GF thought I blew my face off or something.

Another tip...if you have a stubborn bullet, make sure the cap is still secure after 6-8 whacks. I've had the cap come loose several times.

It's also worth taking a look at the Hornady Cam-lock bullet puller. It works in a press and requires a lot less drama than the kinetic pullers. (Good or bad, depending on your perspective I guess).

Much easier and much faster though.

                F=ma, right?

No kidding about being careful not to hit yourself.

I usually bang mine on some softwood - like a pine 2x4 or something like that just to make it 'safer'. Just thought I'd share that.

Do these kind of bullet pullers work on crimped ammo? Even with strong reloader-inflicted crimps?

I don't see why not. It'll probably take considerably longer to pull them, though.

I haven't crimped any of my ammo yet, but I've pulled factory-crimped bullet with this bullet puller.

                        it burns well.

Its fun to play looney tunes. Make a big pile and lead a trail up to it. Start the trail and watch the powder burn.

Steer clear of combustibles, concrete or dirt works good as a burning platform.

You can adjust your seater plug to seat the bullet just a little deeper to loosen the crimp and then pull it. Same procedure applies when pulling bullets that are sealed/lacquered to the case.

Gotta be careful with gunpowder, don't get too crazy.

We lost a calgunner to improper use of loose gunpowder not too long ago. RIP.

And if the cap is loose, it'll break for sure

BTW, I have a Dillon puller and they sent me a replacement cap, free of course
