Key is to get a good grip the first time. But not overdone. If you slip it will peel the plating. If you grab too hard it will leave deep marks in lead or coated. Hard to get no marks at all. Light marks are far preferable to peeling the coating or plating though.

Good idea.
I have the Hornady collet puller, works great on jacketed but terrible on non-jacketed.
I have hundreds of mistakes over the years I need to salvage primers now.

Depends. What cartridge with what bullet? Collet pullers don't work on everything. Need a good purchase on the bullet.

I'm assuming pistol as for the most part you can't fit double charges (one of your concerns) in rifle.

I am pulling a few 44 Remmag plated, abut 200 or more
45 LC plated

I use about a 1" 4x4, standing on it's end.

Whoa! Too much work. Take one apart, dump the powder and weigh the case and bullet.
Then weigh the complete rounds and look for the possible heavier ones.

Ballpark method at best. Variations in cases may be up to 3+ gns for matched headstamp; up to 8 or more for mixed headstamp. makes it hard to tell a 5 gn charge from an 8 grain charge. There may be some variation in bullets as well.

If the OP has lead bullets, the inertial puller is about the only way (collet puller will distort them quite a bit, assuming you can get enough grip to pull the bullet.) If they're jacketed and give you enough shank length to get a grip on them, collet puller is best.

If you do plan to use your kinetic bullet puller, you can use the shell holder from your press instead of the 3-piece holder which makes it faster.

That sounds like a great idea.

I just realized this is easier than I thought.

I am just looking for double loads with the same powder for all.

Just pull all the bullets, visually inspect, then weigh the powder on one round to make sure it matches the recipe. Reseat the bullets and recrimp.
