Personally, it's worth it to me. I'm very particular and OCD so reloading keeps me busy. While at the same time I do save money loading 124gr rounds.

I buy components in bulk so i had it down to about $4.50 per 50 rnds with 3.9gr titegroup. My last 9mm bullet buy from american reoading was 229 bullets overpacked so that helped get me down below 8 cents per shot. I use the classic turret so 50 rnds takes 10 minutes. I have not shot factory in about 5 years now because i have a nice mild recipe that my gun likes and the turret press is quick
CALGUNS DICTIONARY "FLIER": when a shooter wants to turn a 1 inch group to a half inch group because he flinched.

The math has been done here many times...

            Why not?

              Vs. buying taxed retail, yes.

I bought hornady 124gr fmj in bulk for 9 cents. 6 cents for primer and powder, 15 cents a round. 7.50 fo a box o fity

Theyre loaded to my liking too.

No more online bulk orders in CA

9mm is not worth it to me. I don't shoot enough to invest in that. Rifle match reloads is where I spend my time and get the most savings.

the numbers game with 9mm isnt just savings per round, but savings per range session.

people shoot handguns much more per range session than rifle. figure 100-400 for handgun vs 40-150 for rifle per range session.

Alone probably not, but if you set up to load higher value rounds like 45 or 308 it makes sense more quickly.

I only reload if I save 50% or more over retail bulk 1k or more prices... I save at least that much with 9mm so I do reload it and find its worth doing so.

My completed ammo costs me $100/1k

Why would factory stuff keep longer? I have had reloaded rounds go through the wash and dry cycle in pockets. They still shot without any issues.

just getting readt to do a "lot" of 9mm. i have at least 15K wourth of rounds to load up.
already this year i have done up 15K in .40 and at lest 20K of .556

                            yes i shoot a lot.
if you only look at saving money, you must load by the thousands or 10's of thousands.

if you only load a couple hundered a year it is a loss.

saying this i do " special" loadings on a single stage press. might do only a couple hundred a year here. but seeing as i own less then a couple hundred cases for this chambering. (43 mouser). or my hunting rounds. cost is not thought about. but still lower cost than new ammo using same componts.

Apply this logic to the caliber you are intending to handload.

It's worth it to me... for logistics reasons.

Mrs. 2111 doesn't freak on the credit card bill when there's a couple of jugs of powder on it because she doesn't know what the jugs are for. Likewise for primers. Since I usually don't buy all at the same time... powder one month... primers another... the impact isn't as obvious.
If I buy 4 cases of ammo though... I get the "don't you have enough ammo?" look.

An 8-pound keg of bullseye loads a lot of 9. I'm saving money, sure... maybe not huge money... but I can more easily slip it past the Grand Auditor.
