Path to Exile, what D3 should have been.

I've been playing in the beta of Path of Exile for a bit over a year now. I got burned out on it months ago cause the devs were slowing down on the development, and there's only so many time you can run through the same levels before it's annoying. Great structure for the skills though. You definitely want to look on the outer areas of the ring where the major upgrades are to figure out the path you want to take in the tree.

I may have to log back in. It has been quite a while now.

Just spent about 3 hours playing it, nice game. For a free game, it definitely makes Blizzard's $60 look like a butt-raping. D3 was ok, but not THAT much better.

Thats the coolest part I think. Of course theres always those online know-it-all douchebag kids who think if you don't play their "expertly crafted" build you suck... but F em'...

I had a sorceress that could not do anything, but then I started following one of those d-bag builds and I was like, WOW, this is cool... Next thing you know I was throwing ice orbs and fire balls and actually beat the game in Hell mode... Now she is a matriarch or whatever...

Just saying, SOMETIMES some of those folks know what works good.

How big is this game? Space wise? I mean, I got 28GB free but it seems like it is taking a while to d/l after installing it and running it for the first time. I wonder if they do that to not scare people away from d/ling it the first time. Like, I would rather d/l a 6 MB file then a 2.4GB sized file... I hope this thing is fun.

So I rolled a HC character and got to around lvl 23. Then I realized my friends play SC so I killed my toon and how he is SC.

OKay so it is a fun game to play annd YES, time FLIES very fast on this thing. Now that I know that you can control your grinding I am liking the idea of just running around picking things up. The effects seem to be decent too.

I downloaded the game yesterday and played for a few mins, what the hell is going on? Is everyone on the same map? I never got away from the beach, it just seems to go on forever. Anyways, back to the game.

lulz the beach will end soon and you will be in a town after killing some huge guy

the maps are instanced so you only see other people out in the world if they are in your party

Yeah, you will see the people when they show up in town and you can interact with them there aside from global chat but out in the world you do not typically see them.

DAMN you better read a bit before you play because that character build is OFF THE CHART and you also better grab PUNCTURE when it is offered instead of INCINERATE. Incinerate is like tacobell farts where Puncture is more like pull a constantine wire out yer arse...

I am a level 27 shadow that it hitting slightly more than 111, but a level 35 shadow was dealing out a HUGE 3k+ damage multiplier... Said he killed brutus with one shot and the puncture did not do him in... WTF?

HC = hardcore. There is default and hardcore.

As for builds, I just used some builds I found online as a guide and modified them: http://www.exilepro.com/

I'm level 30 something, I am still trying to find some decent gear.

I just found out that there are three colors of things today.

White = normal every day junk
blue = magical every day junk
yellow = rarer but still pretty much magical blue junk, although yellow seems to be better than blue usually.

THEN I found orange. orange looks like some sort of SET items- I NEVER found any orange items until level 28, then I found two within ten minutes of each other and then I have found a total of about 4-6 set items.
They DID seem to be pretty cool.
It seems though that the vast majority of your damage you deal is primarily based on your weapons and stones. I like the D2/LOD way of looking at your skills and I like the synergy, but it seems that synergy here only comes in the form of heaped on intelligence, dexterity and strength.
I will have a look at exile pro though.
