Where do you buy YOUR computer technology?

CDW is really cool but they are expensive too. The catalogs are hella fun to look at though.

    Provantage looks kinda expensive too.

I shop at Directron.com for mobos + CPU and other things (supposedly they give better discounts for having a wholesaler account)

NewEgg USED to be cool but I find that they are the amazon of computer stuff and their free shipping on cases is nice.

Amazon.com is good for a piece here and there. If you have a bunch of things that fell off the truck they can move them for you. They seem to be the BEST so far at getting Intel 60GB SSD and Seagate Constellation ES drives.

Did I Miss anything? What AM I missing here? Who knows of better places for decent comp parts (mainly hardware).

Fry's. Except their salespeople are clueless sometimes. You have to know what you are looking for when you go there.

Microcenter is also a good choice if you have one local.

I'd never buy anything from Fry's. Notorious history of reshrink wrapping returns and putting them back on the shelves as new.

Lately, Microcenter, if you have a local store, has better pricing than Newegg.

PCNation, ProVantage, and Best Buy for Business (sometimes a little cheaper than regular bb) are my go-to dealers. PCMall and TigerDirect are pretty good too. Fry's is fun to walk around in and look at stuff. Kinda like Best Buy.

At work, we use Graybar extensibly. They do sell to end-users, but they are more geared toward businesses and manufacturers. I have yet to ask for something they don't carry. If they don't have it, they will find it. And 90% of the time, they offer the lowest price. We've bought everything from a handful of two dollar BNC adapters to multiple $30K+ Cisco switches.

Knew someone that worked there and their unwritten policy is to resell a return (marked) with those tags and do so until it comes back three times. (tracked via their system).

I used to love newegg but the prices just aren't competitive anymore

I built my last pc 100 percent from prime eligible parts..all cheaper then newegg and free 2nd air ..except for the case that was free ground :-(

Depends... Sometimes Fry's but my friend worked there for awhile and you have to be REALLY careful about what you buy. He told me of a processor they laughed about because it was fried and people kept bringing it back and they'd rebox it for sale... the funny part was it came back so many times they remembered the serial # by heart.

Newegg or Amazon when they have sales.... Microcenter's pricing has gotten better... it used to be way overpriced. We have a corporate account with them. CDW is not good for consumer purchasing... we have a corp account with them too and get some significant price breaks on stuff but even with our discount they still can't match or beat some pricing from Newegg.

If you want Dell stuff Insight Investments is a good place to go to get them for cheap.

Tigerdirect is ok sometimes... You can use American Express points to buy stuff. We bought a number of servers like that... We pay $1 million bills with our Amex account (if we are able) and get tons of points we can spend on servers. Basically get them for free.

I get most of my computer hardware and software from Amazon.com, if they don't have what I want, Newegg.com is the next choice.

If I need something urgently, I check the local Best Buy and if they don't have it, I try Fry's.

Fry's is my last choice because they typically stock cheap/poor quality stuffs and their shelves are always full of open box/returned items. Quite a pain to dig through them to find a new/unopened item.

                              +1 for Frys!

Just have to know what you need w/o sales assistance and watch out for the "% off" repacks. Check the packaging carefully for signs of return or use!
