Its not so much customization but ability. One little example, almost no music can be played on youtube, even regular user videos, the iphone blocks 99% of them from even coming up on the search simply because they want you to buy it through itunes, there are tons of little road blocks like that, things you really dont think about until you cant do what your trying to do. And for an android phone, its really just a small computer, do what you want on it.

Just get a good Android, with unlocked bootloader if you're into modding and tinkering.

I don't know. My experience with a i4S was such that I would have shot it but for the fact that it's cheaper to shoot flat panel TVs.

thanks for asking this op. my wife just upgraded to the iphone 4s and i am looking into upgrading also. i figure i might wait until the newest iphone comes out. i am like you not to big of a techie but i do like to watch video and iphones youtube sucks on 3g it is way to grainy even if the video is high quality. so besides that i mainly use it for calguns and a few other things so it is perfect for what i use it for.

but to thread jack a little, what about samsung phones that run off the windows system?

Why would anyone who's ever spent more than a few years around Microsoft wares think putting something they call an OS onto a mobile device is a good idea?

Nokia sorta missed the smart phone market here in the U.S. They recently elected to drop their native OS (symbian) and to team with Microsoft. Don't count out that combination and until you have used the Windows phone OS don't be quick to knock it. The active tile concept is a very different approach (like web portal iFrames) that is pretty cool. OBTW the active tile concept can be duplicated to a degree with Android. So there I guess is another feather in the customization cap for Android.

I messed with the windows phone for a few seconds and I liked what I saw. Definitely see where the Xbox dashboard is heading now. But I didn't have enough time to get a good feel for it.

You can say that again :/

I got lured into the $100 iphone from sprint and quite frankly, I'm not too happy with it. I was eye balling the galaxy and now stuck with what I got. not complaining too much but these damn ballistics apps seem to be better on an android in my opinion.

Oh god apple fanboy, go do the test yourself. Look for music on your iphone through youtube, then go onto your computer and type the same exact words in the search and compare the two. Im not imagining the fact that every single song on the iphone is some douche with a acoustic guitar trying to play Stevie Ray Vaughan and the fact that there are plenty of actual artist songs on regular youtube through your computer.

I've never thought about that before but you are absolutely right. I have always hated my phone because of it. And I don't understand how I was able to watch Netflix and other things clearly without wifi, but on YouTube it is grainy as hell.

I'm not sure what the hell your talking about, but I have no problem playing music from YouTube on my IPhone. In fact I just searched a couple songs that are in my library, one was perfect and the other just had album art, but the music played fine, the song is obscure and a video was probably never made. But go ahead keep believing what you want, everybody's right on the Internet, as you know.
