Locked down you say? As in locked bootloaders? Like a lot of Motorola android phones? yeahhh...that's what I thought. Easier to jailbreak an iPhone than it is to root a moto android phone. Besides that, not everyone feels the need to void the warranty on their phone and modify the bejeezus out of it.

I don't know about the Samsung, but I just got an i phone because the guy at Sprint said that if you are new to smart phones, get the i phone, but if you have used them alot, go with the other.

So far I like it. I can text now because all you have to do is say who to text, and what you want to say. Siri does the rest.

I am now a dumb guy with a smart phone.

drifter, thanks for the false argument. No, I would not suggest a Moto. Yes, I think iOS sucks for those who need more than what it can do. I happen to be one of those people.

wanted an iphone but went with android, never looked back. Went with the nexus one, awesome nav, flash web pages and free tethering on a stock device. Never a dull moment in my car as there always wifi in there I do have a ipod touch which has all my fav apple apps, which is docked as a alarm clock now. When i was out and about, it was always powered by my N1. Now im using a Galaxy Nexus and even more pleased with the nexus series. Just waiting for the docks to take advantage of the G-nex. look at that gorgeous screen!

I'm getting the Galaxy S II as soon as I get caught up.

Similar, but I think you already have Ice Cream Sandwich (android 4.0 I believe) on yours whereas I believe the Galaxy comes with a lower version that will be upgraded wirelessly over the next few months. I heard the Nexus has a cool curved screen glass , but I'll take my Gorilla Glass..

I need a cell phone. but I also have ipods with compatible hook ups on the boat in both cars, work truck, garage stereo, master bedroom and hook ups on the house audio in addition to wifi iTV that I can move to all rooms and the back patio. My Cell/iphone also plugs in to all the aforementioned areas,
                so I went iphone.

Samsung Galaxy 2 Epic 4g Touch Been rocking this for about 4 months now.only complaint is battery life sucks.

I use a lot of data using the WiFi hot spot and stream pandora at the same time.

The phone is really fast and I think takes great pictures, I have even used it for some stock photos.

                    ATT or Sprint?

Just curious. They are slightly different sizes, and therefore batteries.

I believe the Sprint version has 1850 Mah.

Regardless, Batt life on a smart phone is gonna suck when you are doing what you describe. Tether when you can is the only solution.

That goodness batteries are lithium now and do not suffer when you charge them at more than a drained state.

                      Had an iPhone...

Moved to Android and now have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

One AMAZING phone, fast, slim and the screen colors are freaking incredible.

Downside is the battery. I run a custom ROM and kernel, I get about 18 hours of battery life a day on 4G/LTE, wifi on, GPS on, bluetooth off.

Heh, TBolt standard battery here on BAMF Forever 1.11. We call 18 hours on 4G/wifi/GPS "a few charges".
