You are correct. It's not a "4G" phone, Its just the "iphone 4" and it runs iOS 4.

If you get a new phone every year, the $299 = $25/mo or less than $1/day. Thats a small price to pay to have the coolest device in your pocket. It's way less than most of us spend on Ammo!

I skipped the original iPhone because it did not have Exchange support. I had a 16G 3G on launch Day and then a 32G 3Gs on Launch as well. I bet you can't guess what I plan on doing in two weeks?

The only difference is both of my previous iPhone's have been white. White 3G/3Gs still had black glass, so you only saw the white when they were face-down. They were better for fingerprints/smudges. While I haven't seen one in person, the pics of the white iPhone 4 look like something from Nintendo. I'll be going black this time!

I'm usually very anti-Apple anything. I usually hate the iPhone with a passion, and I'm the only one out of my friends and some of my family members who doesn't have an iPhone (I've always used RIM equipment). However I'm very tempted to getting one when they come out, but in no hurry to pre-order one. At least my company will pay for it so I might as well.

          You're right, I don't know what I was thinking.

I'd love to get the iPhone 4 when it comes out but I can't...
Since I work for AT&T I'm not supposed to have one (even on my personal account) until they give me the go ahead.

To answer a few people's questions earlier in the thread: You can carry your previous unlimited data plan over if you had the 3G or the 3GS. The only plan that won't carry over is the original 2G plan since it is a $20 plan that runs only on Edge.

For those who wonder if 200mb will be enough I would do 1 of 2 things:

1st I would recommend getting the 2GB from the start and seeing what your data usage looks like for a month or 2 and you can move down if it fits you better. If you start with the 200mb and go over then you are paying $15 additional once you go over.

2nd if you are set on starting with the 200mb I would use the star services religiously. You can check your data usage by dialing * D A T A # and your phone sends you a text with where you are at.

But you still have to give up your unlimited data plan if you want tethering.

I currently have the 2G model ? Are you saying my unlimited data cannot be grand-fathered in ? If that's the case, I will not be getting iphone 4

The $20 2G plan cannot be Grandfathered to the iPhone 4 in the same way people weren't able to Grandfather it to the 3G or the 3GS when those came out.

Currently 98% of iPhone users use less than 2GBs of data a month plus if you are hooked up to a wifi at home that usage won't count. I would check out what your previous usage looks like and the 2GB may work out just fine for you. I do understand a lot of people not wanting to have a "data ceiling" but it is what it is.

For example I stream music about 1-2 hours a day, surf the web all of the time, use push email, watch videos, and in general use my iPhone enough where I have to charge it every night (sometimes 2x a day). After all of that I am only at about 1.5 GB a month because I use wifi at home YMMV.

I had a question. If I preordered the iPhone does that mean I dont have to wait in line during release date and just walk right in and pick mine up? Are they only available at Apple retail stores or would I be able to buy one at an ATT store?

Does AT&T ship the iPhones to pre-order customers? I know they did with the iPads when they first came out, at least with the 3G iPads (my co-worker received his on 4/30, just as Apple said they would release them). With my past couple of Blackberry phones from Sprint and T-mobile, I received phones on the "launch date" via FedEx Express and had them up & running by that afternoon.

So is it safe to assume that if you pre-order a new iPhone, that they'll ship it to you and you receive it on June 24?
