I kind of echo your sentiments but for different reasons. We are pretty much near the end of the current gen console cycle for being able to run well the top tier games coming out. Just one example is starfield which is going to be Locke at 30 fps on PS and Xbox.
You can build a good midrange PC for $800 or so now, less if you don?t mind going used parts and the gaming experience will be better than on the consoles.
For basic gaming, sure the consoles are still great and a really good value. But for top tier, PCs have leap frogged in performance.
I built a PC at the tail end of the pandemic just for something to do and since then I just have not touched the Xbox. Or barely. The experience has just been better on the PC. You can clearly see Devs use a lot of upscaling and lower textures to make sure more graphically intense games run well in the consoles. PC, If you have one decent enough is just better looking and more smooth to play.
I think will have to wait for the next console revision for console gaming to be come interesting again. They just don?t have the juice anymore.
