Had an iPhone X and just upgraded to a 12 Pro. The camera and OLED screen on the 12 is a pretty good upgrade but the biggest thing I noticed is the speed of the 12 Pro. It's blazing fast, apps open instantly instead of the 2-5 second lag on the iPhone X I had. Haven't experimented with the camera yet but I've heard it takes great pics and video.

If you bring in any iPhone worth at least $95 trade in, ATT will give you $800 off toward any new iPhone 12! If you have ATT and you are thinking about upgrading, This might be a good time. Don't know when they will be offering a deal like this again.

I'm holding out for the Pro Max, which you can't start ordering until next Fri, 11/6.

"It's not a giant leap in specs" - well that depends; compared to last years iPhone 11; no, not a monumental jump, although it is a total physical redesign and the screens I believe are ~0.25"+ larger - that's pretty substantial.

I think the Max is 0.5" larger screen than the X / 11. That's substantial. Especially since they didn't increase the size of the phone, to my knowledge.

I've got an....uh......I think the X-S Max. It's 2 years old; I really thought the 11 was an extremely ho-hum, underwhelming and worthless "upgrade" so I skipped for the first time in prob 5 years.

I run my entire life & biz from my phone, so I need to have a solid device. I find the rechargeable batteries tend to really start taking a dive around the 1.5 - 2 year mark.

Then I also want my wife & I to have the best possible cameras to capture great photos & videos of our kids.

I am kinda sorta considering getting the 12, to have a smaller device - the Max / Plus-sized iPhones really are freakin' HUGE - and I have big hands. But I'm afraid I'll miss the bigger screen, and of course the Max has the absolute best camera offering from Apple; has every year, as added incentive to get the big boy.

But it is just so damn bulky & cumbersome.....

I'm going to search right now to see exactly what the differences are & for the first time in .....well, ever since the very first Max / Plus iPhone was released, I might grab the smaller one!

Worst case, I can exchange it after not too long....of course I'll verify return policies first.

                Anyway, there's my $0.50.

I went from an iPhone 11 Pro Max to a iPhone 12 Pro. At first I was hesitant downsizing to a smaller phone but it really hasn't been noticeable.

5G in my area I can't really tell a difference in speed. However, watching Youtube Videos in 720/1080p over 5G is nice. I couldn't do that on LTE.

Good to know... Thanks for the feedback.

It might just be in my head, ya know? I've had a Pro/plus sized phone since they came out; wasn't the 6 Plus the first massive-sized iPhone?

I'm a creature of habit....LOL... you know what?

I think I will get the smaller one. When I stop to think about it, there are more times than not that I'm acutely aware of and not loving the sheer size of the phone.

Obviously I love the big screen, but it's a beast of a phone.....

Screw it; I'll get the small one this time. If I hate it, I know apple has an exchange policy, or I can resell on 2nd hand market & lose $50-100 maybe.

And you have honest to goodness, real 5G?

                    What are your speeds like?

                    Who's your provider?

Funny story, I actually preordered the 12 Pro for my wife as a surprise and was going to go with the 12 Pro Max on 11/6.

I compared the size of the 11 Pro Max and the 12 Pro and it wasn't that noticeable.

We have Verizon here in San Diego.

Interesting.... you didn't feel there was that much of a difference, huh?

Are you still going to wait for the Max, or are you just going to get the 12 Pro for yourself?

Yeah.....VZW is pretty good about rolling out cool new features I think quicker than most carriers.....and San D. is a tech-heavy spot that gets advance tech faster than other cities.

I went from an iPhone 7 to the XR. No complaints, no issues in coverage or speed when I've used its hot-spot feature for a day or two when my rural point-to-point web connection needed its transmitting tower antennas replaced.

                                Gotcha.

I still think I'm going to go for just the smaller sized 12 Pro.

In giving it some thought, I realized that I'm always acutely aware of the size of my phone; it really is cumbersome.

Obviously a larger screen is great, but I've got 3 freakin' iPads..... I can & should just grab one of those when I want to read more than a few sentences, leave the phone for.....well, being a phone, LOL.

I think I'll get the smaller one thru my carrier, check their return/exchange policy first, see how I like it.

I can always swap it later.....
