Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good! -

I'm considering it for the 5g aspect, which is huge.Comment

Depending on where you live, you may want to wait on the 5G infrastructure. Currently, its lacking. It will be a few years before 5G is relevant enough to support a device for it. I opted for the 12Pro because I am an apple junkie. I use my iphones to their full extent. The iPhone 4s was one of my favorites, so the flat sides appeal to me. Trivial but awesome.Comment

Ya you can get up to $800 for trading in an iPhone 8 or newer. This would be a no brainer as you will actually come out ahead in the cost difference. As long as you plan to stay with this company for a while. You can take advantage of this promotion directly on apple.com. However I’m not sure if they have any iphone pro’s in stock still or not. The larger 6.7” iphone 12Pro Max (<—-dumb name) comes out Nov. 6th. Same with the iphone 12 mini.Comment

5G is also what intrigues me. If 5G is all it's cracked up to be, I'll use the iPhone as a hotspot for all of my internet needs. My wife and I are stuck at home for the duration of the pandemic. Why pay for separate home internet if your phone as a hotspot will be faster?NRA Life Member

The speed of 5G is significantly faster than most WiFi in homes. However, I do not know of a hotspot plan that doesn’t throttle speeds. If your hotspot plan allows for unlimited data usage, its most likely going to be throttled after 5-15GB. Currently, all plans throttle down to 3G, so perhaps 4G will be the default soon?5G is also what intrigues me. I ordered the iPhone 12 Pro and am very excited for 5G. Although, the likelihood of 5G’s infrastructure being superior to your WiFi service is unlikely for a few years. When 4G phones were first marketed and sold, the 4G icon would appear on the phone during use. However, this same icon ran during 3G a lot of the time. If you live in a large city like San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego etc. you might experience some 5G. It would be pretty awesome if your home was in a 5G hotspot.

I mentioned in another post that my school participates in a partnership with Verizon. All the kids get 4G LTE equipped Chromebooks to take home and the next step is providing 5G connectivity for the school. Construction starts at the end of the year with 5G rollout at the beginning of 2021.
5G is not a done deal because Verizon engineers need to inspect the physical plant before implementation, but from what I understand about 5G radio wave propagation, it should work for most of the school. The school could also serve as a base for Verizon 5G implementation for the surrounding neighborhood and businesses.
If I have 5G at work, I'm sure I'll want to have 5G elsewhere as well.NRA Life Member

Just ordered the iPhone 12 Pro. with 128 gb storage.
Upgrading from iPhone 7plus.
Willing to pay the extra $100 for the 5G capability (even if the ATT coverage is spotty in SoCal).Comment

I'm on the fence to buy the 12 Pro, but I just upgraded my plan and only had the 11 Pro for about 2 weeks now.
Mainly considering the 12 Pro for 5G on T-Mobile. On Reddit it's not clear to me if the 12 is always using 5G or does it only use 5G when needed.Comment
