Same here. I've become a total snob though. Only jumping on MM, Tacs, Super-X or AM

Cabelas has Super-X available right now for $8.99 if you are interested.

In San Diego, I've seen some 50rd boxes at Big 5 once in the last couple years. That's it.

I've got .22 comming out of my ears. I stopped even putting it in my ammo cans It's just shoved in cubbards and such.
I'm good for shooting about 20 rounds of .22 then it becomes a snore fest. I'd rather throw rocks.

If by "coming back" you mean people are finally backing away from over priced ammo enough that it is starting to sit on the shelves, then yes. If you mean it is returning to more rational pricing/availability, then no.

I called Turners Pasadena earlier this week and was told no .22LR in stock, call back next Monday.

Can you tell me what day you saw it?

.22LR has always been available to me locally... it is just the price point that steers me away from snatching them up.

                    I called Tuesday.

I wonder if the guy made an honest mistake or just gave me a BS answer.

Haha! This, 100%. I've had an open backorder at Midway for a Remington bucket o' bullets Since December of 2013. When mine shows up I'll believe the 'shortage' is over.

Seeing mini mags on the shelf isn't a sign 22lr is back. I won't be happy until we get bricks of 22lr plinking ammo back in stock - stuff like Remington ThunderBolts.

But I guess we have to wait until all the hoarders fill up their bunkers with the stuff before regular guys like us can get it on the cheap.

I have never had a problem finding 22lr, what i have had is a problem finding 22lr at a price that doesn't make me want to punch someone in the throat over....

22's won't be "back in" until you can go into Walmart and buy a bulk pack mid day, every day.
