Martin Retting Store Am I wrong??

I bought a CZ there once. They threw out the cable lock that came with the gun saying it wasn't CA compliant and made me buy another. I've bought two more CZ's elsewhere since then and had no issues. Other than that, I haven't had any negative experiences that I can recall. They did scan my DL once when I bought ammo there, which I thought was odd, so I just don't buy ammo there any more.

Just plain thievery.
The lock that comes with the CA approved model CZs is a much better lock and nicer quality than the cheap Chinese junk they make you buy for $9.95 or what ever they charge.

Give me a break - and don't be asinine. You're better than that, and NORMALLY I enjoy your posts (other than the one above). Thinking I'm Doug is just stupid.

Come to think of it, I don't even know his last name after all this time. I've merely been going to Retting's since around 1990 and I've never had issues with them. Just because I happen to get along with the guy doesn't mean that I don't see how someone that is a good bit daft, literal, or "slo" would not understand his brand of humor.

About the only issue I don't like about Rettings is they take in a LOT of hard to find off-roster stuff from people wanting to get rid of their guns, they have the ability to do consignment on those - and don't - all while giving some BS excuse by their lawyers as to why. They end up selling them on "Auction Arms/GunAuction.com" as dealer inventory, which can't be sold in CA.

Among other oddities at MBR, even though they are not in the City of LA, they run your Drivers license through the system when you buy Ammo. Something that even turners does not do.

Have to agree - that is crappy. Yet I don't really buy ammo at Rettings because their prices on ammo suck, so that's never hurdle. I think I bought a large quantity of .308 they had on sale about 10 years ago and nothing since, long before the running the license was an issue.

Have been going to Martin B. Retting's for some 20 years. One of the best stores ever for C&R, selection is awesome, and the staff have always been good to me. Never got bad customer service there. Not sure what OP suspected was being said, but all the older guys working there are very friendly and better well-versed than most any gun store workers I've come across.

First off I don't intend on bashing this gun store....but the way things transpired left me unsettled and thought I would get some other input and if I am being overly sensitive...

Story: Went to pick up a gun that I had completed a transfer on 10 days prior...I was greeted by one of the younger entry level employees...he was very accommodating and treated me with respect...SO he went in the back and retrieved my gun and paper work....during the finalizing of the paper he noticed I was from Ventura County...He then said hey...you should apply for a CCW...I laughed and said yes!! I already did and was 7 months into the process...at that very moment another older guy working there who looked to be an owner manager or long time associate with the store...turned and looked at me with a look on his face like I was completely out of my mind...I have never seen such a look of disgust!...SO I said whats wrong??...he turned back to his customer...I said again to him..."What you don't like CCW"???..he flat out ignored me...then "he" commented something I couldn't hear to his customer..and his customer glanced at me and they both laughed....at that moment I was about ready to go off!!..but being a classy stand up guy I let it go....I just can't image other humans can be SO rude and have so much animosity toward others...let alone customers!! Just my two cents on Martin Retting GS...not sure if I will be back...

no iam the really doug number 4 aka sanfermin , its an unwritten policy to make you buy gun lock
to discourage you from doing ppt because we don't like cal gun , we also
when people who come in to sell there firearms to us , who don't know value
of them we like to give them almost nothing maybe 5 per cent of there value
we love it when older people come in or female who come in with there firearms from older family member who pass away sell them to us boy do i dare say we make a killing and selling them for up ot 5000 percent profit .

yes i had bad experience with martin b retting had a receipt for gun lock but
they still made me buy one from them it was within the 30 days , felt they
did not want to ppt after reading some of threads i will not be doing business
there even for ppt thanks cal gunner for reviews

yep going to turners or ammo bro or rifle gear worth the drive and the
money i have to spend , you know its hard when i live in manhattan beach
and having a nice glass of beer at my beach house then go some where to

Martin Retting Store is hit or miss for sure as posted numerous times. I know its not how you would like it to be, myself included, but unfortunately I have found in today's world, the less said the better. I'm afraid the days of having an innocent conversation have passed us buy. I had to hold my tongue in Costco just last week as I listened to the person who was boxing and placing in the shopping carts spout off to one of the checkers his moronic opinion on semi automatic weapons and guns in general. The best way to deal with stupid people is to not buy into the conversation. They only bring you down to their level and beat you up with experience.
