An acronym for "Awareness Without Action League".
Members identify themselves by wearing plain rubber bands on thier wrists, signifying awareness of something but, no plan or desire to apply thier own energy toward it.
Points out that proudly displaying awareness of a cause, without actually doing something about it, is done for appearance and is actually worse than ignorance.

Tool- "Did you notice all of my colored rubber bracelets? It shows that I'm super-socially conscious!"

AWAL- "Do you see my rubber bands? I'm doing just as much as you to change the world- without the pretention."

Most of us here have either owned or collected guns.

I became interested in guns back in the late 70's. I purchased my first hand gun in 1981, it was a birthday present to myself. I ape that tradition for years. The first was S&W Mld 19, Blue 6 inch. Yeah, I wish I still had that gun, not because it was such a great gun, but because it was my very first.

To date, I've owned, shot or collected most every brand of handgun out there. I started carrying a Sig P220 as as a duty weapon in 1996 because I thought it was as good as it gets. It jammed so much in the first year of use, I decided to purchase a Glock. Come to find out the Sig just needed to be broken in and now it shoots just great. I love 1911's, Browning High Powers, Beretta 92's, Sigs, CZ's, revolvers and everything in between.

As far as duty weapons, Gocks have proven to be both reliable and accurate. They are not however the pretties thing on the shelf. As a duty or combat weapon it would be hard, if not impossible, to beat a Glock.

Once you include Sigs, 1911's, CZ's etc. You are getting into a finer class of weapons. They are nice, they work as intended, they look great and they are plenty accurate. Given the choice though I'd take a Glock 10 to 1 as a duty or combat weapon. Where I'm a going with all of this? In response to all the the Fanboi threads and comments. I'm proud to be a fanboi if that means I like things that are reliable, work as intended, are easy to maintain and inexpensive to own. If you hate Glocks, than you hate everything that every company inspirers to be. I can already hear the comments about this batch or that batch of guns, that did this or that did this. To you I say, the mind is like a book, it works best when it's open.

I've come to the conclusion that there are many out there that hate what works or hate what is popular. For those that like or prefer other weapons, I get it....but to deny Glock it's place in history, or to say they're are junk or they're not a real mans gun is disingenuous and reeks of jealously. I'm not trying to turn haters in to believers, I'm hear to say, it's okay to be a Fanbois, if that's what you want to call us.
