That sounds like a nice collection. When you add at least 50 more, and say, 100,000 rounds of ammo, then maybe you should hit the brakes a little bit.I just wanted a pistol. That was two years ago. Now I have a 22, 9mm, .45, 22 rifle, 223 AR, and a 308. But my 308 isn't shooting well, so now I want another 308. Unfortunately, my local shop has a beautiful used Browning A-Bolt Target for $1250 and I think I must have it.
Being that I already have a few rifles, and that $1250 is a good chunk of change, I should not buy it. But on the other hand, it's a beauty...
Help (maybe).

With the tenuous state of the dollar, you can actually say with truth that your guns are investments that stay as a positive in your portfolio. Investing in a firearms collection is quite different than money spent on vacations or iphones or rims for your car.Comment

at 6 guns over 2-3 years OPs not exactly in the same league as some of our luckier, more 'diseased' comradesUnless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Get married and buy a house. If possible, buy a "Fixer-Upper".
It may not stop you completely, but it will slow you WAAAAYY the heck down.

I will offer my services to you, and any other fellow Calgunner in your situation. For every gun you purchase, you must send one of your other guns to me for disposal (never to be returned). This service is free of charge, and should only take 2 or 3 purchases to break you of your urge. You're welcome!Comment

Gun buying depends on where your priorities are. I am single no kids and own home and don't live beyond means. All vehicles paid for. I don't need a new expensive car or motorcycleevery year even though I only own one junker thats well maintained just to have a truck around still. I also don't attend sporting events, drink a lot, go to strip clubs much.
My only main luxury is good food and we gotta eat so that covers that. I pour almost all my disposable income and time in to guns. It's also easier to afford a lot of guns if you start early and are knowledgeable and always look for deals and do your homework. If you can inherit some guns all the better.Comment

If you can just hold off for a couple of years, most everything should be illegal by then. Problem solved.Comment
