I used to purchase guns there all the time, 5 at one time one day but the inventory has gotten sucky usually and the old men hainging out there grab most anything decent before you can if you are not in the in crown. Also George is older and SLOW so plan accordingly. I have yet to deal with new owner.

This used to be a semi secret and semi productive spot for me but no longer really plus it is too far for me to visit regularly.

Sigh..... George is a great guy, his son used to work for me and semi dated my daughter a bit. Unfortunately I heard about the place being for sale a little to late from the son and George was already in the process of selling it to the new guy. I did talk with George and told him I was open if anything went south. I would have bought it in a heartbeat! Oh the fun we could have had, all you CalGunners and me! Such is life.....

If oll's are within the law, help me understand both the 'risk' and how his ffl is 'on the line'. Other than the bravo sierra at the beginning of the oll era, have any other licensees been harassed/censured/put out of business by the doj??

We all here on CG know they're legal as it follows the letter of the law but not all the LEOs out there are well educated enough about it to avoid problems. Hence we still see cases related to folks being arrested first and released by the DA later.

The FFL holder may perceive a "risk" in that the DOJ has not expressly stated in a clear and well defined statement that OLLs are legal except for the ones with explicit DOJ approval (i.e. sealed magazine well OLL) plus any DOJ FUD they have heard and received. This uncertainty may make them feel that they're putting their business and FFL on the line to serve us when it's easier and clean cut to sell the "traditional" non-OLL guns in their store.

As I stated earlier, it's his store and he can sell what he wants to sell in it. However, I hope he learns some customer service skills with a strong twist of professionalism if he wants to survive in this market. I really hope this does happen because it would suck to lose another FFL in this state when there aren't an abundance of FFLs to begin with.

Sounds like we've found a new place to do PPT's at.

If they refuse, I'd have no issue with referring that kind of schmuck to the DOJ....

Have you guys tried going over to Elite Firearms? Bob and Bj are super nice people and a lot easier to deal with than with that new Idiot. They're literally on the other side of the same street next to the Lumber Yard. I did a couple PPT's on two stripped OLL's. Bob was a little hesitant about it at first but when I explained to him about the legality he was ok with it.

Why don't calgunners band together and start opening up or buying out these shops? That way at least we can service our own community.

Sounds like Brad is a tool. Too bad we need more gunshops, with this idiot around it sounds like there will be one less real soon.

wow, that's sad. great business owner. at least when I was first looking for an OLL I went over to the Grant Boys gun shop and when I brought it up I could tell the guy was a little iffy on the subject but then he referred me to Ryan at J&J Armory. Sure, you may not want to personally deal with a given product but it shows a little class and friendliness to refer you to someone that does.
