MY EXPERIENCE WITH SADDLEBACK VALLEY GUN CENTER!!!

You are going to love this one... I walk into Saddleback Valley Gun Center in Laguna Niguel this morning and start looking at the Glocks and just browsing. The old guy I think George is his name nice guy said he is leaving and someone else is taking over. I meet the new owner and just simply ask if he will be transferring any OLL type guns since he is the new owner. Just a fair question right??

The owner (Brad) gets all bent and starts insulting me and says that he ordered a bushmaster legal one, but the BB is not legal and the ATF said if he hears anything illegal he can kick them out of his store. I said hey sorry if I offended you it was merely a question I wasn't trying to pick a fight. He then tells me to get the F*** out of his store and he doesn't like my type of people anyway(real estate brokers)... Wow what a way to run a business for a new gun store owner. Has anyone else come across gun store owners getting so angry??? I was completely shocked...

Wow, that sucks. Sorry to hear about that. No one should be treated that way in ANY business.

How did the original owner John react to this highly aberrant behavior?

I don't know I was in such shock that he actually kicked me out that I didn't even look back at George. George is a heck of a nice guy by the way and I have done a few ppt's there. He sold the biz to Brad so I don't mind badmouthing the new owner after I was treated like that. I was even going to buy a Glock 36 they had on consignment... Oh well!

Send him a copy of a receipt every time you buy a gun from someone else. Show him the money he's missing out on.

I changed the name of the thread as we do not tell people where to shop and not to shop.

No one in a service type business should be treating customers that way. Yes, shops have the right to refuse service to anyone, but in general people should not be treating other people that way - no matter who they are!

Yea he will not last long. If he only realized what a total idiot he is and ruined the reputation of that shop.

Sounds like a bad experience, and combines the worst of gun shop cliches: angry, unhelpful staff + gross misinformation. Paladin once posted a revolutionary business idea: starting a gun shop called "The Friendly Gun Store" or something like that, where customers are treated as customers.

I was there last week looking at some 1911s. George was really nice to me showing me the RIA, Charles Daily, and Springer 1911s.
I asked him if he would give a discount if I paid in cash. He referred the question to Brad who asked if I am buying it today. I replied no as I wanted to do more research on the product. He then began to scold me saying that I shouldn't be asking for discounts if I was not ready to buy.
A simple yes or no would have been preferred.

What's funny is George was super helpful he pulled out a few of the glocks and was very informative like always!!! I will NEVER go back there! NEVER!!!

One more thing the owner Brad said that I was probably one of those ar15.com nut jobs... I took that as a compliment!!

Maybe this is a new Brady Campaign tactic - buy out gun stores and then drive away all the customers. Brad (?) has it down perfectly. Either that or he inherited a good deal of money and saw guns were profitable. He's apparently never had to earn his money in retail (or customer service) before.
