    "Assault Rifles" Gone For Good?

Has the sun set on the ownership of proper assault rifles in CA? Will the day come when we can legally purchase an in-tact AK or AR without all stupid the obstructions or puny 10-rounders in this state?

My intuition tells me no, unless of course the composition of our legislature is significantly altered. Still, I hate to vote "conservative" solely on the arms issue.

    Any thoughts?

Innovation always seems to be one step ahead of of CA's asinine laws. Take for example the Radlock bullet buttons. Also, we had the "rebuild kits" option up until this year, but that got legislated out too... It's just a matter of time before everthing that's Black Rifle cool gets grandfathered out.

As much as I hate party-line voting, I don't think we have many other options here in CA as far as gun rights are concerned. In the end, at least on a national level, we live in a one party system anyway... Consensus of those in power is to dumb down and disarm the masses. Makes us much easier to control. I've stated nothing new here...

Agreed, it's only going to get worse. Last year we came within a veto pen of having most semi-auto rifles banned, and they will inevitably try again. So it might be a good time to think about getting the rifles you'll be wanting. No need to panic, but prices are reasonably low and it would be a good time.

Seriously, it took me a couple years to see the light. Granted I don't love all conservative politics, but I would much rather have those "not quite right" views than those of the extreme progressives.

Without some kind of Supreme Court ruling (that won't come) I'd say yes....they're gone.

You're asking about two different things here. First is the possibility of getting the AW ban lifted. The second is about getting the large capacity mag ban lifted.

Now, before you keep complaining about magazine locked or featureless semi autos, you need to think back just 10 years ago to a time when these were not available in Ca. We've made some headway already. It's your job to keep the movement going forward.

And a big thanks to all the republican governors that turned those anti gun bills into law in California.

Don't forget that they're also fostering the irrational fear of firearms. Those same dangerous 'weapons of the battlefield', assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, that are only used for mass murder are firmly grasped in the hands of the uniformed representatives of state authority.

The solution...whatever solution there will be...is in the courts, not in the legislature.

It's still beyond me how we are outlawed from buying/using a firearm that is common in the vast majority of the rest of the United States (ie an un-bulletbuttoned AR).

When I look at the rest of our Civil Rights, I can't find any that are treated differently from state to state...even county to county within a state. The right to speak freely is the same wherever you go.

Simple logic tells me that this is not what the Founders intended. Whatever 2nd Amendment rights we end up with, they should be the same and equal for all. But I digress.

Anyway, hope of restoring our rights through the legislative process is gone. If there's any hope, it's in the courts. A short while ago I would have said that the chances of much progress were slim...even though I continue to fight with the best of my abilities. However, Peruta is doing a lot to restore my hope.

                              Peace
