Kicked out of a range?

So since NEITHER the OP nor myself EVER mentioned violations of range rules or safety issues AT ALL, why do you feel the need to be a "special snowflake" about harping on them, instead of answering what was actually posted?

My comments were SQUARELY aimed at the posts on here that are espousing the current uber-liberal ideal of total conformity of action, along with intolerance of anyone not fitting the correct (in this case gun owner) stereotype and that the way a person is dressed or happens to look seems to be of MUCH more importance then whether or not they are showing safe weapons handling.

Your argument (of things that weren't even posted in the first place) is so weak that you now feel the need to personally attack me to be able to strut around as if you had won (how very Feinstein of you).

And once again just so it's TOTALLY clear, NONE of my posts have EVER been about violating SAFETY rules.

Did you just not bother to read that post you quoted? The "special snowflake" comment had nothing to do with you or the OP violating safety rules. You're the one griping about "borg like behavior" being a requirement to not have the staff constantly watching you.

I've never been tossed off of a range but I have seen plenty of people that have been. I keep my eyes open and learn from others. I hope some people can use the advice I've posted and not have a bad day at a restrictive range. Knowing a few things that attract unwanted attention might help avoiding problems, I hope.

I understood your posts fully. You learn a lot from watching the actions of others, especially those who are not mindful of others around them. Heck, who doesn't walk through a public place and not turn their head and check out a group of loud people?? If you don't then you need to work on your situational awareness.

Been going to ranges all my life, it just sucks that CA is so crowded now. Never been asked to leave because I was there too long, but I can understand a busy range having a rule cutting your time short. Gives everyone a better chance to shoot on a day of their choice. My guess is eventually all the newbs will lose interest and ranges will slow down a bit. I don't think it will get to the point of how it was 20+ yrs ago when there would always be plenty of lanes to choose from.

Why do these shooting places over sell their memberships to the point where it's over their capacity. If you know that you have 20 lanes and that you sold 100 memberships with benefits that made it worth while and know that you can only handle 10% of the members then you should not go over your capacity. Instead they try and sell as many memberships as they can and hope people don't show up.

Come get your membership for 500 dollars a year, this will allow you the right to not have to wait in line and shoot for as long as you want. This is unless, we are busy, then your membership rights are disregarded and you're just a normal paying customer.

What's the point of the membership, this is why I would rather go out to desert but if I have to shoot at a range I prefer southbay gun and rod, the rest of these places in San Diego are about the money, bottom line. They can care less about you or your gun rights.

I'm curious about this as well. Through context I believe I know which range this is and I just purchased a membership for my wife and myself this past weekend.
There was no contract or paperwork to purchase the membership - they swiped my credit card, gave us our membership cards and that was it. We did have to fill out paperwork when we were there for our first time and once they had us entered into the computer we only needed to provide our ID for subsequent visits.
I'll probably be heading there tonight so I'll check the paperwork.

I went to the range after work last night to zero my new red dot on my AR and confirmed that the 1 hour rule does in fact exist. I was told that for now this applies only on weekends and only if they have people waiting. Oddly enough last night was the first time I had ever seen this range full (they've only been open for a couple of months). I got there at 5:30 and by 6:00 there were a few lanes open.
This isn't a huge deal to me as I live 5 minutes away so it's easy for me to avoid peak times if I want to shoot for more than an hour.

As far as I know ASC has never had a time limit.

The same reason that (when we were actually on some sort of standard) the banks used to loan out more money than they actually had on hand; they didn't count on everyone showing up at the same time to collect...duh.

That's how banks continue to operate. They are required to maintain minimum capital levels, but not 100% of outstanding loans.

ASC will let you shoot all damn day if you can afford it. but it does attract a lot of first time shooters.

Never been asked to leave, but I have never been to a range that rents hourly, and the only indoor ranges I have been to were one in San Leandro- same fee allowed you inside and on an outside range- and one in Oxnard.

Usually a flat fee for the day. I would be pissed if I paid for membership but was denied that all day part.
