Chicks dig the kilt. Get one. I'm on my way to the Highland Games here and the only concealed weapon I'm carrying here is under my kilt...

Men, in my opinion, often look great in Utilikilts. Lots of handsome men at Burning Man wearing 'em every year, though you'd have to wear a belt to carry, I think...although a little Kahr or airweight revo in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster might work in a pocket, as well.

Don't take the previous reply as a challenge. Just curious, that's all. Man that's a mean looking claymore!

"Kilts are cool" is beating "Kilts are queer" in the unscientific Calguns poll by a significant margin.

This is by no means the actual cause, but is certainly some sort of indicative symptom as to why you guys are never ever going to get your gun liberties back in California.

The architecture is pretty common for places built in the early 70s. Its in SA. (Luckily I have no warrants out...)

Im not sure why you would want a kilt if it isnt part of your heritage. Too much Braveheart I guess........ I would never consider wearing a yarmulke, im not Jewish. I would also never consider wearing a Rajasthani turban, or an Agbada, its not who I am.

Now if you want to wear a Utilikilt then I guess what your saying is....well....im not sure what your saying

My mum side is all Scottish and my dad's is a big mix but his grandfather was from Ireland and he was a Wallace.
                    Therefore the Wallace tartan.
I don't know whose tartan is on the hat but my Gran brought it from Scotland for me when I was a kid.

The same "it isn't part of your heritage" argument can be applied to an Italian eating basmati rice or a Navajo eating Ukrainian perogies. Obviously, the food they are eating is not of their heritage so why would they bother? I guess because it is variety... or something.

America didn't make the AK-47 or the SKS but many people have one in their arsenal. Why not have an AR-15 only since it is an American rifle? Why would you want to use the traditional Russian rbattle rifle in place of the American battle rifle? Been watching too many of Aaaahnold movies?

The argument can go both ways.

To address the kilt, it is not a matter of heritage but of functionality and variety. It is a functional garment, much like a sarong (real one) or even a shemagh (the headwrap originating I think from Afghanistan.) Just because the origin is not from your culture/country of origin does not mean it is taboo or the desire of a mall ninja.

No, I have not watched a lot of Braveheart. I have seen it twice though and the second time was half-way through to look at the hotness that is Murron

False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

bdsmchs, thanks for making some good points there. Saves me some typing. I own both a Utilikilt and a tartan kilt, and see nothing wrong with utilikilts. In fact, wore mine to the Scottish Games here a few years ago, and got lots of compliments, many actually coming from the guys in the traditional kilts. The Utilikilt is meant to be a everyday knock around garment for those who obviously don't want to wear their heavy, tradtional wool kilt on a daily basis. (especially considering what they cost, and being dry clean only)
I say if you like the look of a Utilikilt, get one, and ignore the naysayers. As for some opionions that it looks like a "skirt" or a "dress", everyone's got an opinion. If you spend your life worrying about other people's opinions, you won't really get anywhere in life.
As far as wearing a holster, can't help you there. Never tried it. But if and when you do order the kilt, and put on a holster, post pics. I'm curious to see how it works/looks.

In the news today was this artical about a 48-year-old mail carrier wanting to wear a kilt as part of his uniform, I know in the begining I made fun of Pullnshoot, but having read and seen lots of articles poping up on the subject I may just change my mind, I do not think I will wear one but I will not riddicule those that do, I'm not talking about the traditional Kilt but the utilkilt or what ever it is called.
