Looks like I won't be at Cordova shooting center on Wed. after all. If you wanted to meet me there PM me I can make arrangements for another scouter who will be at that meeting to pick it up. OR PM me for other arrangementsIn any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

I look forward to a proper Council Executive to replace this one.Capybara- The Federal/CCI has set aside ammo for councils to buy for summer camp and shooting programs. the problem this time around is I couldn't get our council to buy more than just enough for our summer camps
Hopefully that will change next year when we get a new Scout executive and Program activities director :P

I thought this reply was interesting in that the BSA regards us as an activist organization an therefore cannot participate in the cleanup of the Perris BLm range, Steele Peak.
We are a Political Activist Group, so BSA cannot associate with us.

I must regrettably inform the members of this forum that the BSA and its affiliates will not as such be officially participating in this event.
Apparently CalGuns and the CGSSA are viewed as Political Activists Groups and as such the BSA must remain neutral in its position.
I have spoken with BSA adult members and they have said though disappointed, they support the neutral position of the BSA but may decide to participate as individual citizens.
My son & I will be participating as individual citizens, supporting this event as citizens by helping to cleanup Public Lands.
Respectfully,

Vick Never heard of such a thing. That is not the case here (golden Empire council) as far as I know. And the various Citizenship in the community/nation badges certainly encourage boys to learn how to become politically active. There is also no "list" of groups a troop can or can't associate with as far as I know. I am wondering if this is a Council decision/or a more local decision.I thought this reply was interesting in that the BSA regards us as an activist organization an therefore cannot participate in the cleanup of the Perris BLm range, Steele Peak.

It being a local Council decision would make sense then. Back in the 80's I was Asst. Scoutmaster and Order of the Arrow, Mt. Whitney Council, we didn't run into any of this stuff. Only concerns were what were 2 Marines going to teach the boys.
Good point there, how can one teach the citizenship skills and discourage activism?
Must be the Coastal way of picking and choosing.

Vick a lot has changed since the 80s
There are also very specific rules about what constitutes a safe range (must have been approved by an NRA Chief range safety officer and paperwork submitted) and must have NRA certified Instructors and Range safety officers on site.
