For shooting pistols, Orange County Sheriff's pistol range (25 yards), across street from Honda Center, maybe better than Field Time. The ROs there are really cool, do not check your weapon unless its your first time for safety briefing, and do not care who is with you. And it is a semi-outdoor range, which has natural light for better aiming. Only inconvenience is they open to public Weds - Sat., from 8AM - 5PM
You also get unlimited free targets to use there too. It's also nice because you won'treally see to many yack jasses there because it's operated by the sheriff's department and most are intimidated.

Don't they limit you to loading 6-7 rounds per mag and get on you for shooting faster than 1 per second? Also, they don't allow magnum rounds or rounds that exceed 1200fps.

Waymarking.com is a way to mark unique locations on the planet and give them a voice. While GPS technology allows us to pinpoint any location on the planet, mark the location, and share it with others, Waymarking is the toolset for categorizing and adding unique information for that location.

I forgot about this, last time I was there was like 2 years ago, they limited it to 5 rounds per magazine, but at the time, it was only 7 bucks to shoot and I didn't have my membership at field time yet so I world go pretty often

I've been a member at FT&T since it opened. Great range and great people. I'm teaching my daughter to shoot there before eventually going to Frontsight. She has shot all my handguns without any question. No long guns for her yet except the 10/22. The RO watched her shoot a nice group with the M&P 22 and gave her the thumbs up to shoot whatever she is training on.
They may error on the side of caution but they are dealing with the general public. I think Calgunners as a whole have a higher firearm IQ. If you demonstrate you know what you're doing, they leave you alone.

I have been there numerous times, from my experience:
            1. ROs never checked my ammo. LEOs even shoot 5.56 caliber rifles there sometime.
            2. ROs never checked any of my mags to see how many rounds get loaded.

You do have to police your own brass.

Lol. I've taken several girls out for their first time shooting, usually a 12ga o/u and or a 45. No face shootings yet. I would have turned right around and gone elsewhere if someone talked to us like that. If the OP's story is true that guy is a total jackass and I'd be letting management know how I felt.

I like the facilities and the ROs are good to go. The older gentleman is Les, he is a great guy. He isn't judgemental or mean, I think we chatted with him more than we shot.

I have taken my 10 year old son there. They didn't make a big deal, I just signed some sort of form for him. I brought in a 10/22, AR, AK, G17, G19, and a Remington 870 12 gauge pump.

The snot nosed pimple faced kid at the front desk really didn't give me any instruction with my son's shooting, nor did the RO. It may have been because I had been there many times already.

My only gripe was when I handed my cased firearms to the kid, he immediately told me in a condescending tone not to point my firearms at him. I have him a WTF look? He has to be someone in management or ownership child. I have been gunning while this kid was in diapers. I didn't want to cause a scene, my son really wanted to shoot. If my son would have heard (he was looking at the gun display) I would have spoken back with my French to teach him that you don't let another person talk to you in that manner.

I just had one bad experience and that was only that specific check in.
The rest of the check ins have been pleasant. I've been checked in by the Asian lady, Caucasian lady, and some dude with a beard/goatee in his 30s. All the checks ins have been pleasant and. I have been treated with respect. I'm bringing my girlfriend in soon, we will see how that goes.

I was there earlier today. For the most part, I had a pretty good time, except for the check in.

The guy that checked me in seemed like he didn't want to be there and was coughing attitude the entire time.

Other than that, good time at the range.
