You can add an endorsement for the firearms on any homeowners or renters policy. You might have to have the firearms appraised. Or a receipt if they were recently purchased. Just call your insurance agent for more info. And it will probably be less money/premium then getting a separate policy.

I have AAA home and auto, so I called to add additional coverage for my collection. I was told anything above the included amount of 2 or 3 thousand, I would need an appraisal, which I have not done. What a PITA that will be.
I'm an NRA member, so I guess I have a few bucks coverage there.
$3k won't cover my ammo. And a couple of firearms are about that each on there own.
I guess I need to get moving on an appraisal soon.Comment

Good to hear. It does sound like a Nor Cal thing. I'd still read it to see all the sub limits. It would be strange IMO to have only one for jewelry. Gold & Silver bugs may want to pay attention here. Those items are usually included in the sub limits.
Replacement cost is another issue worth looking at while reading. Things like bikes and golf clubs can acv without special endorsements.Comment

This is so weird and most annoying. My So Cal AAA renters insurance clearly has a limit on firearms ($2K). Why the difference between Nor Cal and So Cal? Guess they use a different underwriter or something??"Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

It is a subsidiary of Eastern Bank.
I don't have any interest in Eastern other than helping my agent out. The process is painless. A quick call or email, some info about you, some info about what you want to insure (you can list individual items, make blanket coverage, or a combo of both), and provide payment.

Yea, my renters insurance is 130 or so/year. It covers all firearms, with no limits up to the 35K of all my stuff. The only limits that affect me are ten grand for my quad (which is worth about a tenth of that) and I think 1,500 for a non-boat trailer. Firearms are covered for the full 35K.AAA in nor cal will cover firearms at no extra cost, they are covered under personal property in your homeowners or rental insurance. over 200k in personal property and regular homeowner stuff for around 100 a month.

I have. There is no sub limit for firearms on my policy. If my house burns down, or get's put on a trailer and dragged away by thieves, my firearms are covered for the full amount.Comment
