    Update

State Police officers Anthony Luna and Elias Montoya arrive soon after. Luna rushes to DeTavis' side and asks if the people in the minivan have a gun. According to Luna's supplemental State Police report, DeTavis tells Luna, "I don't know." The dash cam audio is unclear.

So officer is supposed casually reach into the vehicle and remove the keys from the ignition? Officer is supposed to walk, exposed and w/o back up in the FRONT of the vehicle and lay out a spike strip?

What planet do you live on, man???????

I'm sure all those pissing and moaning at the officer trying to shoot out the tires would be just fine with this lady taking off...FOR THE 3rd FREAKIN' TIME...and plowing her minivan full of occupants into a crowd if innocents?? I'm sure in that scenario everyone would be commending the officers for using good restraint, right?
It's clear some people here have no experience dealing with people from the ghetto. This is exactly how they behave all the time, and it's not over reaction by the cops in this case. We see this all the time in DC across the river.

yes it does, black male charging officer... officer arrives and just sees vehicle driving off AND/OR only knows what the radio says AND/OR just sees the part of the black male charging the officer and reacts accordingly.

it looks like he is shooting the tires too. but the one who is to blame for everything is the mother for being a dumb woman.

Fleeing from LE, even in a vehicle, is not justification for use of deadly force. Also, the use of deadly force is only allowed to stop the perpetrator. It is not a blank check to shoot innocent by-standers such as the children in the van.

Vehicle was driving away/officers not in imminent danger. Check

But none were...... So why even make the statement...

In fact it appears that none of the rounds even struck the body of the van, indicating as the officer said that he was shooting at the tires to disable the vehicle....

Gee which "innocent bystanders" or any person for that matter were hit by any rounds???

That would be zero...So no one was shot....

As above, the officer said he was shooting at the tires to disable the vehicle...NOT at the persons in the vehicle.

So it's up to the department to decide if that act violated any department policy....

How would a "regular citizen" be put in a similar situation??? They wouldn't.....

                              So it's a flawed comparison....
