Called the cops on the neighbor

I prefer not to educate people who are (presumedly drunkenly) firing shotguns into the air. That's the cops' job.

I would definitely try to be discreet though. we know how useful TROs are against nutjobs.

I remember seeing an episode of Cops of the same thing. the guy was told not to do it again, this show was back in the 90s though and i think it was the day the gulf war was claimed it had just ended.

What goes up must come down though, what if the shot fell into your house?... or hit someone?

birdshot doesnt hurt anything when it falls down from being shot upwards. theres a range i know of that the shotgun range down the road a few of the stages of skeet the shot rains down onto the rifle range target areas. theres a light that does on during the rifle range cease fires and the shotgunners are supposed to stop shooting on certain stages in our direction. sometimes they dont see the light. ive been hit. might hurt your eyes if you happened to catch one there but its no biggie if you have glasses on.

No. My dad owned a roofing company in Orange County from the early '50s and he had a small tin can he kept in his pickup. Over the years he had acquired quite a few bullets he took out of roofs when people needed leaks fixed. I added a few to the collection. My son ended up with the can when my dad died, so it's around somewhere. There must have been several dozen in there when he retired.

im in san jose and heard someone shooting at 2AM well after the fireworks stopped. they were strings of 30 for around 90 rounds, what a waste of ammo.

I saw two neighbors fighting once. The guy was being completely restrained, but his woman was about to beat his arse. They went back in the house and the door was slammed. I called the cops and said the man was being completely restrained, but the woman was not. The cops came by, talked to them, and then left. Afterwards I went over to the house and let them know I called the cops and I did it to protect the guy who was getting hit and was completely restraining himself.

However I was lighting some not-so-kosher fireworks last night (no flyers) and i'd a been pissed if someone called the cops on me.

Of course, I wasn't shooting the Auto-5 into the air either.

I think you did the right thing. If your neighbor has any intelligence he would'nt be shooting a gun in the air. Now if you live in a farmland or wide open non urban area and you did that I would say its uncalled for.
I would be careful cause some people tend to want revenge so expect at least a slashed tire or a keyed car even a broken window. Sometimes people wake up from their drunk stupor and nothing happens as retaliation. hopefully your neighbor is the latter. Nothing sucks more than being at war with a neighbor

Haha, I might have to look around my hood today. We live in a very safe neighbor, but I am pretty sure people were firing off rounds last night because of 4th of July...

The guy did what he think was right though, and I suppose the neighbor is close enough that he had a bad feeling about it. Do what you have to do. We can't judge you since we weren't there.
