A long time ago you used to be able to buy guns at gas stations and mall department stores. Banks have given rifles to people who open new accounts. What's your point?

Made the mistake of going to big5 for a PPT rifle transfer, and wanted a 2nd proof of residency, told me that I should go to the DMV, wait in line, and get a printout.

I told him that the 2nd proof of residency is only for handguns, went to the LGS down the street and had it transferred within 10 minutes.

The norm in this scenario is to use car registration. The whole pojnt is so they have the current address . If the registration doesnt have the current address then a utility bill

When did Turners start asking for 2 ID's? I bought a S&W MP15 and a stripped lower in February this year. All I needed to show was my DL. Are we talking handguns?

That is funny because Turner's in San Berdoo right off the 91/215 told me that the property tax bill was NOT an acceptable form of secondary proof of residence... They told me that BEFORE I started the pickup on a transfer, but then by the end of the transfer another guy looked it all over and said it was all okay. I think too many cooks in the kitchens at ALL of these places puts a collective head up its *** due to being afraid of screwing up and losing their license in CA...

Don;t blame Turner's or Big-5, blame the ****ing DOJ... Am I wrong here?

So they don't understand that the DMV gives you that printout until you get a new license?

This sounds like a combination of DOJ confusing instructions and scared retailers.

I had a hiccup doing a PPT at big 5 but I didn't take no for an answer.

No, you only need your DL if the address shown matches your home address. For long guns that is.

If it does not match, then you'll need a 2nd proof of residency.

The issue the OP has, is that his wife has a print out showing the change of address on the driver's license, and Big 5 thinks it is not acceptable.

I have done several ppt transfers of bullet buttoned ar's and an ak at the hollister big5 , no problems there. I also bought my sig522 there.

My buddy bought his A5 umarex hk there and needed to get his printout as well because he didn't have the his new address on his license.

I tell everyone who wants to by a gun in this fascist state....

#1 MAKE SURE YOUR DL IS CURRENT, INCLUDING ADDRESS!

When I bought my house in Hollister , changing my address and ordering my new lic. was 1st on my list.

if it's the temporary print out of her drivers license if you look at the "official" print out I'm 99% certain it says not a valid form of identification. I may be thinking of something else so if it is something different then sorry. however if it is what I'm thinking of which print out you're speaking of it clearly states not a valid form of identification.

Examples of acceptable proof of residency pursuant to newly-proposed regulations:

                            DMV registrations are NOW acceptable.
Electricity, gas, cable bill from within the last 3 months.
Signed, dated and notarized rental agreement/contract.

Examples of documents that are NOT acceptable proof of residency:
Hunting or fishing license (these documents are not issued by the government).
                            Cellular phone bill.
                            Passport.
                            Pay stub.

You will someday learn, or maybe not.

                                Big 5 sucks!

I like big 5, their northridge location is right next to csun making it easy for me to buy ammo when I get out of class. The ammo prices get ok after using a 20% off coupon.
