Oh the humanity of it all. Where will it end? Tactical nukes??Originally posted by Bear GrillerYou say that LE has the right to be unharmed and equally or better armed than the bad guys, right?
Why doesn't that philosophy apply to citizens? Do citizens not have the same right as "public servants"?

it's the ideology behind the right to bear arms. Kinda like regulating citizens to muskets vs AR armed police/military. In his view, it's like if the government can buy nukes why can't I to protect myself. Take it as a joke.....Originally posted by Bear GrillerWhat is the relevancy of your comment?Comment

Interesting title, and based on the number of comments and pages, it appears that a large number of Calgunners have an opinion of this matter. While not directly commenting on the subject matter, it appears that the OP and a numbr of others are doing to LE what many on the left do to the gun community on a daily basis.
That is: justify your need. (The classic technique of the left).
You really don’t need assault weapons, after all they were designed for war and killing lots of people. You don’t need assault "clips". After all deer hunters should use sporting tactics. You really don't need high powered weaons for home defense, after all, a simple double barreled shotgun is all you NEED.
LE really doesn’t need select fire weapons, after all, machine guns were meant for war, and have no place on American streets.
Interesting how many 2nd amendment supports seem to be hypocrites.
How about if we let the professional LE managers and executives make the decision on what type of equipment is needed for a specific situation.Last edited by 003; 12-27-2013, 4:34 PM.Comment

"The Second Amendment isn't designed to protect the government's right to bear arms."
I never said it did. The point I was making is that it appears many of the folks here on Calguns are doing to LE exactly what the left does to us on a daily basis.
That is: Justify your need. I for one really hate that.
Final comment - - WOW, lots of anger here. It would be nice to be able to make an honest observation without being attacked.Last edited by 003; 12-27-2013, 5:24 PM.Comment

Its intent (in concert with the Insurrection Act of 1807) was to limit the powers of Federal government in using federal military personnel to enforce the state laws.
The Act, as modified in 1981, refers to the Armed Forces of the United States. It does not apply to the National Guard under state authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within its home state or in an adjacent state if invited by that state's governor. The United States Coast Guard, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, is also not covered by the Posse Comitatus Act, primarily because the Coast Guard has both a maritime law enforcement mission and a federal regulatory agency mission."Last edited by 003; 12-27-2013, 5:32 PM.Comment

Thank you, unfortunately it seems that too many agree with those that would grant the government whatever it wants to make a difference. Of course, living in S.F. isn't good for morale in that regard.Originally posted by Bear GrillerBrother, you are not alone in your views. And sooner or later it's all going to come to a head.Comment

The OP - that being me - is not hating on LE, nor do I wish to see them hobbled.
My position is that select fire is not appropriate domestically short of taking on a mob of Cartel thugs in an area where little to no collateral damage is present.
It's been stated many times that you are responsible for every round down range.
As some LEO's have thoughtfully and professionally articulated well-formed responses, serious training goes along with the operation and possession of select fire weapons.
If I saw Jerry Miculek with his revolver, I would run like hell.
Jerry Miculek. Fastest shooter ever.
And yeah, I know, he's fired over a million rounds so that's probably 20,000 annual qualifications?

No. In fact I suggest using only 10 round magazines in 10 round bodies and no detachable mags for semi auto rifles.Comment
